00:00It's a beautiful weekend and we're here at the Georgia Heritage Festival.
00:12Here you'll get a chance to experience the culture of the UAE, whether it be the mountains,
00:18the coastal areas, agriculture, or the Bedouin.
00:21So let us go together and see what it has to offer.
00:27There were people from all walks of life looking at the different sections of the festival
00:32grounds that provided a glimpse of an era gone by.
00:36Our first stop was the old mountain dwelling.
00:39Fascinated by the picturesque recreation of the dwellings, some parents could not resist
00:44taking pictures of their children standing in front of the old stone houses.
00:51There was something interesting to see at every nook and corner of the festival.
01:06As we made our way through the grounds, our attention was caught by a magnificent looking
01:10ox pulling water out of a well, telling the story of an age-old method of irrigation.
01:21The Bedouin terrain consisted of two tents and an open-seated area.
01:26Whenever someone approached, they were heartily greeted with juicy dates and rich, flavorsome
01:44coffee.
01:46Saif al-Dahmani re-enacted how the Bedouins would greet their guests back in the day.
01:52He said that before technology, this area was the media hub, as guests carried news
01:58of the places they came from.
02:09As we moved away from the terrains, we saw a crowd gathered around a traditional dance
02:14show accompanied by a live band.
02:21One of the most interesting aspects of the show was a man wearing a traditional percussion
02:25instrument, a thick belt of shells.
02:28He twisted his hips in rhythm with the music.
02:38After having walked for so long, we were glad to be greeted by the aroma of delicious traditional
02:43Emirati food.
02:45A large corner was dedicated to this, where women in their traditional Emirati dresses
02:50were hunched over pans and pots, making Emirati delicacies such as lugaymat, khubz khamir and
02:56khubz ergag.
03:00So there you have it, a slice of a few AE traditions and culture.
03:04If you want to experience it yourself, take a stroll down to the old heritage area of
03:08Sharjah.
