00:00Good day, and welcome to the Gulf News Update for Wednesday, October 30. Here are the top
00:09stories at this hour. A fierce blaze on board a bus triggered by
00:14an exploding fuel tank killed at least 44 passengers in southern India early today.
00:19The fire broke out after the bus crashed into a central divider on a highway between Bangalore
00:24and Hyderabad. Only five people on the vehicle, including the driver and an assistant, escaped
00:29the inferno. An investigation is underway after a man was
00:34killed and another injured when a window-cleaning cradle fell from a 34-storey building in Dubai's
00:39Ticom area. The accident happened early Tuesday at Al Shaiba Tower when the cradle's ropes
00:45snapped. The victim died in hospital in the afternoon. The falling cradle damaged 12 cars
00:51parked in front of the residential building. Israel has announced plans to build hundreds
00:56of new colony homes on land that the Palestinians want for a future state. The announcement
01:02came hours after Israel released a group of Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
01:08Health authorities in Oman have announced the first case of MERS coronavirus in the
01:12country. The patient, an Omani man, is in stable condition and receiving treatment at
01:18a hospital, officials said. Meetings between Iran and the global nuclear
01:23regulator are continuing today. Last night, both the UN Atomic Watchdog and Iran hailed
01:29talks as productive and constructive in the latest possible sign of Tehran's willingness
01:34to ease international concerns about its nuclear work. Iran's envoy to the International Atomic
01:40Energy Agency said he presented new proposals that he hopes will open a new chapter of cooperation.
01:47In Syria, there are fears many civilians may still be trapped in a besieged suburb of the
01:52capital Damascus, despite thousands being allowed to leave. The BBC reported that thousands
01:58more civilians could still be inside the city as they are too frightened to leave. At least
02:03three Damascus suburbs have been besieged by the army for months.
02:08And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 33 degrees Celsius, dropping
