00:00And to go deep into all the details of this day, we contact once more Special Envoy in Quito, Ecuador, Jorge Gestoso.
00:06Hi Jorge, the vote counting is underway. What other latest information you can share with us at this hour?
00:16Well, four hours and a half after the closing of the polls, we're talking about over 9.30 pm,
00:23about 43% of the votes have been counted by the National Electoral Council. And so far,
00:32what the results are showing, it's about 45% of the votes for Novoa, almost 3% to
00:41Luisa Gonzalez. What the analysts are reading in between lines, according to what they believe
00:50that is going to be the trend of the coming hours, is that most probably the two candidates
00:57are going to end up in a tie with about 45% of the votes. In that case, we have heard that the
01:05campaign of Luisa Gonzalez is waiting about the moment that 60% of the votes will be announced
01:14with the results. And again, they're expecting that it's going to be a tie of 45%
01:19to do a press conference to mention what they believe is going to be for them an interesting
01:26night, even sort of an initial victory of this situation. Again, what is very clear that given
01:36the trend that the numbers are showing, it is going to take place a runoff on the month of April.
01:45And regardless of all the denunciations that the 16 candidates that were participating tonight
01:54were mentioning that President Novoa was expecting to use the power of the government,
02:02the resources of the state, his immense fortune to finance the social media, even with all that,
02:12he could not get, because that was the initial rhetoric, that he was going to get over 50%
02:20of the vote and he was going to get a victory, a win with the first round. No victory at that level
02:29it's going to be perceived as a very interesting night for the Revolution Ciudadana of Luisa
02:36Gonzalez and therefore it's going to be very interesting to hear what each campaign has to say
02:45according to the developments of the night. We'll get back to you now. Thank you. Thank you,
02:51Justoza, for being at the forefront and bringing all the latest information to the Lesser English
02:56audience. Now, let's stay in Ecuador, where all 16 presidential candidates exercised the
03:01right to vote in the general elections.
