00:00SportsGrid here on Radio Row. Kevin Walsh with Giants running back Tyrone Tracy.
00:04Tyrone, how are we feeling out here in New Orleans, Super Bowl week? The energy I
00:08feel getting a little bit more palpable as the week goes on. I mean, I feel good. I feel
00:12great, man. I'm just enjoying enjoying my life right now, offseason, so it's a
00:16little bit different to end season, so I'm enjoying everything. I'm excited to
00:19be here, man. How are you first offseason after the first year? How does it
00:25feel as opposed to, I guess, when you're going from being, what, a junior to, you
00:29know what I mean, in college? How does it feel to be in the offseason? It feels
00:33great. It feels great, obviously, going from college to the league. I've been
00:37doing stuff for about over a year now, you know, just non-stop, non-stop, so it
00:43feels good to actually be able to kick my feet up and not have to, like, you know, go
00:47in and do any type of lifting and stuff like that, so I feel good, man. Like I
00:51said, I'm just, I'm happy to be out here. Obviously, we had the Super Bowl. It was
00:55great energy, like you said, so I think it's gonna be a good weekend. Now, for
01:00the Giants, right, look, up and down year, obviously, but when you have that, the
01:05bright spots shine bright. Yeah. You and Malik, right, I think for Giants fans,
01:10like, all right, we got some stuff here you get to really kind of move forward
01:13with, so for you having the quality of season that you got to have in your
01:17rookie year, does that give you guys, and again, Malik's season as well, a big
01:22boost now heading into year number two with the organization? I mean, I guess
01:26you could say that, but at the same time, at the end of the day, I think me and Malik, we're
01:30just out there doing our best, you know, for the team. Yeah. I think we're gonna do
01:32the same thing next year, you know, each and every time we have the
01:36opportunity to lace up our cleats and step on that grass and play football,
01:40we're gonna do our best, you know, to put the team in a good position. I think we
01:45made a great step, you know, this past year, just creating trust between
01:49players and the coaches and our other teammates, but yeah, I mean, we're coming
01:54out there to do the same thing next year, you know, so hopefully, again, we can, you
01:58know, obviously add some pieces, but, you know, continue where we left off. Now, the
02:02key, of course, is always going to be, well, one of the keys would be the quarterback
02:07position, right? You know, there's a lot of questions right now. You guys have the
02:09third pick. Yeah. Have you put your eye at all on a Cam Ward or a Shador Sanders
02:15as the Giants maybe could go that direction? Not necessarily. Obviously, that's about my
02:20pay grade, you know, I'm not, I haven't really, like, watched films, stuff like
02:23that, but I am, I trust and have faith in Dave's and Joe to, you know, make the
02:30right decision, to be honest with you. Like I told you, man, my job is to go out
02:33there and run the ball and protect the quarterback, so whoever they pick to be
02:36the quarterback, I'm gonna do my job, you know, and make sure that, you know, nobody
02:40hits them, you know, when they blitz me, so, and I'm gonna try to run the
02:45ball the best as I can to make sure that, you know, we keep getting first downs and
02:47keep the ball moving. How did you find blitz pickups in the NFL, maybe compared
02:52to college? Was that, I've never even, like, thought about that, but is that one
02:56of the bigger transitions at all, or is that an area you're super comfortable in?
02:59I think, I think you could say it's a big transition because there's different
03:04type of players between linebackers in college and linebackers in the league,
03:07you know, so obviously, like, you still have to pick them up, but, like, the
03:13rate that they're coming, and the speed, the force, the physicality, the size,
03:17everything about it, it's a little bit different when you're talking about
03:19college to NFL, so, yeah, it's a different mentality when you're talking about the
03:24difference between the two, but just from a football IQ standpoint, it's not really
03:28big for me, per se. I had a good, good running back coach that took his time and
03:33to teach me all the details about, you know, our protection and how I can get
03:36good at it. Are you, were you excited to find out, again, because there's a lot of
03:41conversations that the Giants are going to kind of try and keep as much
03:44continuity as possible, that you get to play under D'Abel again for another
03:48season, and then, again, that can make things a little bit smoother as you head
03:51into year number two? Yeah, yeah, yeah, it definitely does because, first and
03:54foremost, they chose me, you know, in the fifth round of this past year, knowing
03:58that, you know, I've only played a position one year, so they kind of took a
04:01chance on me, so I want to do the best that I can to make sure that, you know, to
04:06let the world know that they chose the right guy, you know, for the job.
04:09Obviously, I did a good job this past year, but I want more than one year, you know,
04:12you know, to show that they did good. Absolutely. And, again, I also think that we
04:16have a good team. I really do. I truly believe that we have a good team, and I
04:19think that Dave is a great coach. I think he knows how to lead men, and I
04:24think that, again, with the right people, right pieces added to what we have, we
04:29can get this train going in the right direction. Yeah, all right, now, before we let you
04:31get out of here again, we're on Radio Row, Tyrone Tracy, New York, trying to run a
04:34back. The Eagles are in the Super Bowl. You played against them, obviously. I'm
04:38just curious if there was anything about getting ready for that defense, playing
04:41against that defense that stood out to you, and maybe is a reason why they're
04:44here in this game. I mean, they're the number one defense in the league, man.
04:47They're the number one defense in the league, so, like, that's the reason right
04:51there. You know, they're always physical. That's the main thing that, when you're
04:56talking about the Eagles' defense, they're very physical. They're fast. They're
04:59flying around. If you ever watch them, like, it's not just one person tackling. It's
05:02one, two, three, four, five. Everyone's coming. You know, you might break one tackle, but
05:07then you have, you know, the Kobe Dean. Yeah. You got Zach Mon coming. You feel me?
05:11Everybody's flying to the ball, and then, when you factor in their
05:16defensive line that's making plays, you know, on the quarterback, again, like, you
05:20have a very, very high-skilled defense that you're playing against, so, again,
05:26that's one of the main reasons they're in the Super Bowl. You know,
05:29their defense is super good. You know, defense wins games, so. Yeah, I was talking
05:33to Bub Means earlier with the New Orleans Saints, and he was like, man, the
05:37front seven, the defensive line, it's super physical, and I was thinking, like,
05:41if a wide receiver is saying that, who maybe doesn't engage with those guys as
05:45much? I can imagine, as a running back. Oh, yeah. It's like, halfback dive. Maybe outside? Maybe outside, BD? I don't know, man, that's a little crazy out there.
05:54I mean, as long as they give you the ball, man, they hand it off to me, I'm gonna try to do my best, man,
05:58whatever they hand me the ball, I'm gonna try to get some positive yards. Yes, and you did it all
06:02year, again, Tyrone Tracy, man, best of luck. Yes, sir. I really appreciate it.
06:05Yes, sir. All right, man, you got it. Yes, sir.
