00:00The Chamber of Deputies opens the doors to science and innovation with the photographic exhibition
00:09Una vita da scienziata, ai volti del progetto, hashtag cento esperte.
00:13An exhibition promoted by the Bracco Foundation to value the contribution of women in STEM disciplines.
00:19The event saw the participation of leading personalities in the academic, entrepreneurial, institutional and young students.
00:26After the health of the President of the Chamber, Lorenzo Fontana,
00:29the reporters discussed the importance of training in STEM disciplines,
00:33underlining how the gender divide already begins among school banks.
00:37The gender disparity in the scientific field already begins among school banks,
00:42where boys choose other careers that offer less opportunity in the labor market.
00:47And to reverse this phenomenon, a real cultural battle is needed.
00:52Never accept the prejudice that women would like less suitable for STEM studies and related professions.
01:00As an entrepreneur who deals with science, I tell you,
01:04conquer your role in society with confidence, courage and tenacity.
01:10Placed in the prestigious corridor of the Busti di Montecitorio,
01:13the exhibition presents the shots of the French photographer Gérald Brunet,
01:17who portrayed 20 Italian scientists engaged in various fields,
01:21from biology to aerospace engineering, from mathematics to computer science.
01:25An exhibition that wants to inspire new generations
01:28and break down gender stereotypes in the world of research and technology.
01:33The boys and the families themselves are not well informed about the load of job opportunities,
01:40but also without the financial hypocrisy that these paths can lead.
01:44And so, with this week, we have tried to use this as a great container
01:50within which to be able to do activities of dissemination, sensitization, communication,
01:56precisely with respect to these chances, to these potentials
01:59that technical and scientific disciplines can give to our boys.
02:03The project, born in 2016, aims to give visibility to women in strategic sectors
02:08such as science, economy, international politics and culture.
02:12The exhibition is aimed in particular at schoolgirls and young people,
02:16with the aim of encouraging more and more girls to undertake studies in STEM subjects.
02:21According to IOCSE data, in fact, only 35% of STEM students in the world are women.
02:27And in Italy, the gender divide in the scientific sector is still evident.
02:31The future is a future of technology.
02:34And if we don't do it now, if we don't deal with STEM subjects now,
02:38we will be cut off from what will only be the achievements of technology.
02:44This means that women in particular could not enter the decision-making areas,
02:50which instead are fundamental, because they see only if they are in command,
02:55they can make decisions that then influence the future.
02:59With this initiative, the Bracco Foundation and the institutions involved
03:03want to promote a culture of equal opportunity,
03:06so that talent and passion are the only criteria to access the world of research and innovation.
