00:00Hello and welcome to National World's Kick and Chase Rugby Union podcast. It's a show
00:09where we talk about the latest in international rugby and it's that time of year again because
00:14the Six Nations is kicking off this weekend. I'm your host Martin Simpson. I'm joined by
00:19my colleague Phil Bramley. Unfortunately, our other regular panelist James Copley couldn't
00:24be here this week. He's feeling a little bit under the weather. We wish him a speedy recovery
00:29and we'll hope to have him back next week or at the very least later in the tournament
00:34so he can provide us an in-depth perspective from the Welsh camp. But in the meantime,
00:39myself and Phil, the Englishman and the Scotsman, we'll do our best to cover that end.
00:44And I think, Phil, probably let's just start off in chronological order of when the games
00:50are due to kick off. And I don't know about you, but I absolutely love a Friday night opener in
00:56the Six Nations. Yeah, and in January, which is the real shock to the system. I think everyone
01:03kind of snuck up on people, the fact that it was so soon. Everyone was saying,
01:06it can't be starting soon. But yeah, Friday night, it's going to be fantastic. Can't wait.
01:09Great competition. Again, what's really nice again this year, I think we'll talk about every
01:15team's chances in the competition. And most people I suspect will say that it's going to be a bit of
01:19a dogfight at the bottom between Wales and Itty Filet, Wood and Spoon. But realistically, the
01:24other teams above that can easily beat each other on a given day. And I think it could be
01:29a really close competition. Fantastic opportunity to see some great rugby, which we hope to get
01:34into soon. I was asking your prediction for the other two games, but this is a tough one. But
01:38go on. What do you think, Phil, for this one? It is really tough. I think the head says that
01:45Ireland at home with that settled team probably will start the bookies favourites. I do think
01:50this England team have been so close. They are so hungry. They do deserve, I think, to just be
01:58the right side of the scoreline. I think England can do it. Either way, it's going to be really
02:02close. It's going to be a hell of a battle. But I'm going to stick my neck out. I'm a proud
02:07Englishman. I think England are going to surprise people. They're going to come out the blocks
02:11firing. They're going to empty that bench that we talked about. The physicality, I think,
02:16coming on late could be the difference. So yeah, England all the way for me.
02:20Yeah, I think it's going to be a one-score game, this one. And I have to go with my head
02:26then since I'm not an Englishman myself, obviously. So I'll go with Irish for this one. But I'm
02:32expecting a really close match. And that is all we've got time for. Thank you very much for
02:37listening or watching this week's show. We'll hopefully be back next week. Again, hopefully,
02:41James will be back to join us and give a perspective from the Welsh side of things on that
02:47opening game. But in the meantime, enjoy the Six Nations wherever you're planning on watching it.
02:52And we'll see you again soon.
