00:00In other news, let's take a look at what happened at the Philippine Sports Writers Association or PSA Awards night held last night in Manila Hotel.

00:11That's the story of my teammate, Paolo Salamatin.

00:16More than a dozen former and current sports heroes of the country gathered

00:21for an important night of recognition and gratitude for the success of Philippine sports in 2024

00:27at the Philippine Sports Writers Association or PSA Awards night held last night in Centennial Hall in Manila Hotel.

00:34PSA President and Philippine Star Sports Editor Nelson Beltran led by 117 athletes, coaches, and officials

00:44in holding the honor roll of the year awards night.

00:47The highlight of the event is the recognition of the historic achievement of 2024 Paris Olympics double gold medalist Carlos Yulo

00:55who received the PSA Athlete of the Year Award and Gold, Grit, and Glory Award from Milo, Philippines.

01:02Thank you very much again to those who prayed, to those who cried.

01:09I'm glad to be awarded. Thank you so much.

01:12Together, let's pray again for the 2020 Paris Olympics.

01:22Philippine, if Carlos Yulo wins, we will win.

01:30Even though he was not present at the event, we will not forget the success of our first Filipino gold medalist,

01:38four-time PSA Athlete of the Year awardee, and 2020 Tokyo Olympian, Heidlin Diaz, who won the PSA Hall of Fame Award.

01:46Aside from this, the PSA President also received the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist Ira Villegas and Neste Petesio.

01:56I want to share that I was 15 years old when I was coached and first coached in the national team.

02:03He was a great coach to me.

02:07He taught me how to play football.

02:10He always told me,

02:12STD, C-quad, and discipline.

02:16That's what he taught me.

02:17My hands were shaking.

02:19I remember that.

02:20His motto was,

02:22No one here, no one there.

02:24Coach, that's your class.

02:26To all the athletes, thank you very much.

02:36Executive of the Year Award was received by Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Bambol-Tolentino,

02:42while the NSA of the Year was recognized by the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines,

02:48led by their President, Cynthia Carreon.

02:52Mr. Basketball Inductees were Najun Marfajardo and Kevin Quimbao,

02:56while Ms. Volleyball was Gia Morado de Guzman,

03:00because all the Olympians were given special recognition from 1964 to 2020,

03:07as well as the Filipino athletes who participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics and 2024 Paris Paralympics.

03:14Among the major awardees were Carlo Biado, Rubilin Amit, Melvin Jerusalem, Pedro Taduran, and many more.

03:22In total, 11 sports personalities and organizations were awarded special citations,

03:28while seven were awarded Tony Cedayo Awards.

03:33Gratitude and sacrifice in hope to inspire and shine a light for the nation.

03:40And again, thank you.

03:42This type of event will give pride to the athletes who continue to give pride to the nation,

03:50with the aim to serve as an inspiration for all aspiring athletes.
