00:00My Outro For My 20th Birthday
00:30Hello and welcome to Latest TV News, I'm Sam Mawson, reporter for Sussex World and
00:37in this week's show we will be reflecting on Brighton and Hove Albion's brilliant
00:40win at Manchester United before we look ahead to the Premier League home match against Everton.
00:45First here are the top stories from across Sussex.
00:48Some sad news to start off with as a teenage girl died after the motorcyclist she was riding
00:53with lost control on the A27 in Sussex. An inquest heard that Indy Buchanan from Rustington
00:59died following a motorcycle incident on the A27 Crockhurst Hill in Salvington on the
01:03evening of November 18th 2022, just four days after her 17th birthday. She had been ice
01:10skating with friends in Worthing and was on the way to a party in Havens when the collision
01:14happened.
01:15Stagecoach is proposing major changes to services in Littlehampton and Worthing. It says it
01:20will improve reliability and provide more buses, especially in the evenings and weekends.
01:26Changes to the company's Worthing and Littlehampton bus network are proposed from the spring of
01:302025 and customers have until February 7th to provide feedback. The aim is to avoid level
01:36crossings to reduce delays and to provide new services including a direct route from
01:40Littlehampton to Worthing Hospital. Meanwhile, shingle recycling will take place on the beach
01:46between Shoreham and Lansing to help further reduce the risk of coastal flooding.
01:51The Environment Agency said essential maintenance is needed following winter storms causing
01:55erosion on the beach in Lansing. Up to 20,000 tonnes of shingle will be moved to maintain
02:00protection to local homes and businesses. This is enough shingle to fill the Albert
02:05Hall three times over.
02:08The PHX Gym brand has expanded to Hove. The new gym opened at Oceanview Business Park
02:13in Gardiner Road on Saturday January 11th with free entry on their first day of business.
02:18The new gym features 13,000 square feet of equipment and more.
02:22Finally, a huge Grade II listed country house is up for sale on Polgate for £10m. Foghorton
02:29Manor which dates back to the 1830s is situated in a mature parkland setting in about 83 acres
02:35of land on the edge of the South Downs National Park. The 7-10 bedroom house is freehold and
02:40is for sale through Knight Frank. People can view the listing online at knightfrank.co.uk.
02:47Stay tuned for the Goldmouth Action Podcast.
02:51Yes guys, how's it going? I'm Henry Bryant and I'm joined with Deron Howard and we've
02:55both just been to the pre-match press conference as Brighton are set to take on Everton in
03:00a Premier League clash. So Deron, can you talk us through some of the team news and
03:05any injuries that Brighton have got?
03:07Yeah, it's a bit of a blow actually for Brighton. There's skipper Lewis Dunk who's struggled
03:12with calf injuries this season. He's looking as though he's going to miss the game with
03:17what was described as a small muscle issue, separate from the calf issues he's had previously,
03:23which is a blow because he played quite well in the game against Manchester United. They're
03:27a bit short in defensive areas with obviously Igor Julio. He's struggling with his hamstring
03:32still. He's going to be out for the rest of the season. Adam Webster's had some injury
03:36issues this year. So they're left with Jean-Paul van Gekker and Adam Webster as their only
03:41recognised centre-half. There could be a potential movement in the transfer window between now
03:47and the end of the window to try and resolve that issue. Matt O'Reilly, he's struggling
03:52as well. He's looking as though he's going to miss out with a knee injury. And then there's
03:56no further updates as well on the likes of Ferdi Cadioglu as well. I think he's going
04:03to miss out as well. James Milner's still out with his hamstring issue. So yeah, it's
04:08not really easing that much, although Jack Hinchwood will hopefully be coming back and
04:12Brian Gruder will hopefully come back for this one as well.
04:15In terms of transfer news, another outgoing for the Albioners, Nsiso seems to be moving
04:21to Ipswich now on a season-long, or half-season, low-nil. What have you made of that and what
04:28was Fabian Hösler saying about that?
04:30I think it could be quite a good move for him. He was struggling to get minutes at Brighton.
04:35He played a bit more recently. He's been more in and around the first-team picture. He scored
04:38in the 4-0 victory in the third round of the FA Cup tie at Norwich, which I'm sure will
04:44please a lot of Ipswich fans where he's going to. I think it's a sensible move. He would
04:50get Premier League experience in a team that are really fighting for their lives, so every
04:55game is going to mean something for him. It's going to be a good move for him. He's going
04:59to be in a pressurised situation, which I think Brighton quite like. He's going to really
05:04have to perform for Ipswich. So a good move all round, I think.
05:09One final one. Is Karl Rushworth coming back, recalled from loan at Hull City? And a bit
05:15of an issue for Jason Steele, who's got some surgery.
05:20Yes, shame for Jason Steele. He's been such a reliable number two. Obviously, Bart Verbruggen
05:25has been the main man between the sticks for Fabian Hösler. But in the press conference
05:30just now, Hösler was saying what a great player that Steele is to have the environment
05:36that he helps to create in the team. So missing him will be a blow, but he said he's got 100%
05:40faith in Karl Rushworth. England under-21 goalkeeper, had a great loan at Swansea last
05:45season, tipped for big things, had his injury problems at Hull, but he's fully fit now and
05:51he'll take his place on the bench to face Everton this weekend.
05:54Perfect. Cheers Darren. And for all the latest coverage for that game and more, please check

06:06Welcome to another episode of the Goal Math Action podcast, where we take a look at all
06:22the latest goings on at Brighton, Hove, Albion and Crawley Town. I'm Matt Pole, and this
06:26week I'm joined by Brighton writer Darren Howard, Crawley Town expert Mark Dunford and
06:29Sam Morgan, who covers both the Seagulls and the Reds. Albion recorded their third away
06:34win in the space of nine days, courtesy of a 3-1 successor at a league in Manchester
06:38United on Sunday. We'll look back at that excellent result, plus we'll bring you the
06:41latest injury and transfer news as Brighton prepare for Saturday's home game against Everton,
06:45and we'll also bring you all the latest from Crawley Town as well. You can read all the
06:49stories we are talking about with videos and pictures online at sussexworld.co.uk forward
06:53slash sport, and you can check out other great videos on shotstv.com and Freeview channel
06:58262. You may also be watching on latest TV, so thank you very much for tuning in. But
07:03first, Brighton capitalised on a disastrous mistake from Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana
07:08to condemn their hosts to a fourth defeat in five Premier League home games. The visitors
07:11were already leading, thanks to goals from Jankuba Minta and Kaori Motoma, when substitute
07:15Jorginha Ruta turned the ball in to Internet after Onana managed to grab the ball, then
07:20release it. You were in attendance for Albion's latest success at Old Trafford, Sam. I think
07:25it's the third year in a row, I think, that they've won at Old Trafford and summed that
07:28game up for us. It's quite remarkable the record they have at Old Trafford now, isn't
07:32it?
07:33Yeah, it certainly is. They do absolutely love playing Man United. It's almost a guarantee,
07:38I think I said before, before the match that Brighton would win this game, despite Man
07:43United having an upturn in form, obviously with their performances at Liverpool and Arsenal
07:49and obviously getting that last gasp win against Southampton. So you kind of felt there was
07:53a little bit of positivity about Man United going into the game. But all of that was extinguished
07:59very quickly at Old Trafford on Sunday. Brighton took the lead four minutes into the game,
08:06as you mentioned, with Minta beating the offside trap and Motoma laying the ball on a plate
08:12for his fellow winger. And the two combined again in the second half to restore their
08:18lead after Bruno Fernandes' penalty had levelled the scoring. And it was a bit of a collapse
08:25from Brighton in that sense, because they were trying it guilty of playing out the back.
08:28Brogan played the ball straight to Xherxe, who got the interception in. Sorry to Ahmad,
08:38and he intercepted and it was Xherxe that was fouled in the box. And you couldn't really
08:42have any complaints and Bruno Fernandes put it away. But Brighton came out in the second
08:47half, the much better team, and they completely dominated the second half with Motoma restoring
08:52the lead and Rutter, as you mentioned, capitalising on a pretty dreadful mistake from Onana. But
08:58I think even without that moment, Brighton probably would have won the game anyway. They
09:01were in complete control of the match and they beat Manchester United once again. And
09:06they completely were deserved winners against a team that did look completely short of ideas
09:12in that second half.
09:13Yeah, absolutely. Well, it's not been an easy period for Albium manager Fabian Hertzeghler,
09:17but as mentioned, the long run without a victory has been superseded by three away victories.
09:22And can the Seagulls supporters start dreaming of Europe again, Darren? It seems like it's
09:26been very back and forth, their European hopes this season.
09:29Yeah, that's right. That's right. They're looking back on track now. They have a much
09:34more solid look about them. Really impressed with them in the last few games, even against
09:39Norwich as well in the FA Cup. They looked as though they were getting their style back
09:44together. A bit more consistency in that midfield area with Bolivar and Yassin Ayari and the
09:50likes of Joel Veltman and Van Hecker and Pervez Estupina. They're all now regulars in that
09:55team. And I think once they get that section of the pitch right, that gives them the foundation
10:00for them, the attacking players, to really do their stuff and go forward. So I think
10:05that's been a big help and it's really helped them in a tough game in the first half against
10:10Ipswich as well. Ipswich were quite good at Portman Road for the first period, but then
10:15Brighton took over. They were quite ruthless going forward at the moment as well. They're
10:19taking their chances when they get them. And you're right, yeah, it's put them back into
10:24European contention. So they're ninth in the Premier League at the moment and it's
10:29so tight in that section, that race for the top four, top six, top seven. But yeah, European
10:38chances definitely, they can push for that in the second half of the season. But with
10:44the likes of Bournemouth as well up there, Nottingham Forest as well, Newcastle, there's
10:49some really strong teams this season, all challenging for those places. But Brighton
10:54are well in that mix now. So yeah, really good. Lots to play for in the second half
11:00of the season. So looking forward to it.
11:24Welcome back to part two. In transfer news, Jakob Moda has left Brighton to join Feyenoord
11:48on a permanent transfer. Moda, who joined the Seagulls from Leipzig in 2020, has signed
11:53a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Dutch club. The 25-year-old only made four substitute
11:57appearances for Hazal at side in the Premier League this season. What do you make of the
12:02move there, Deren? From an outside point of view, it seems like a case of what might have
12:07been for Moda after that horrible ACL injury he sustained, which meant he missed large
12:11chunks of the season and the 2022 World Cup.
12:15He did, yeah. It was a real blow for him at the time when he picked up the injury. He
12:21was just starting to establish himself in that Brighton team under Graham Potter. It
12:26just completely wiped him out for a good 18 months or so as he worked his way back into
12:32the team. Then during that period, Brighton went on that huge spending spree. Just as
12:38he was getting back to fitness, they then brought in the likes of Matt Sweefer, brought
12:44in the likes of Matt O'Reilly, Carlos Bolivar has established himself. Jack Hinchlewood
12:48has now started to emerge as a real talent in that midfield as well. There's just so
12:54much competition in that midfield area. There were reports that Brighton did offer him a
13:00new deal as well to stay with the Seagulls. He chose in the end to try his luck with the
13:08move to Feyenoord. For about three million it was reported. Once all the add-ons are
13:13complete it could rise up to about three million. I don't think Brighton ever really
13:20saw him at his best. I still think he's got potential to keep improving as a player as
13:26well. It's going to be a really good value signing for them at three million if that
13:33is the figure. I think a good move for him. He was out of contract this summer so Brighton
13:39couldn't really command too much of a fee for him. This was their last chance to get
13:46some money back for him. Good move. I hope he does really well over there. He seems a
13:51really good professional. All the previous managers spoke so highly of him and his teammates
13:57as well. I hope it really works out for him. Brighton are really well stacked in that central
14:03midfield position.
14:04The Toffees started the road to recovery under
14:10returning manager David Moyes with an impressive 3-2 victory over Spurs at Goodison Park last
14:16weekend. How do you see this one going? What is the latest injury news from the Seagulls?
14:21Are you at the press conference just a few moments ago?
14:25Yes, that's right. We just came out of the press conference and there are a few more
14:29injury concerns. Skipper Lewis Dunk is going to be assessed right up until the last minute. He's
14:34picked up another problem. He's been hindered by calf injuries so far this season. This is
14:40apparently a separate issue which is a blow for Brighton because he played really well in the 3-1
14:45victory against Manchester United. Brighton already have injury concerns with Igor Julio
14:51who has ruled out for the season with his hamstring injury. Adam Webster has had his
14:56concerns this season as well. At the moment, it's only Adam Webster and Jean-Paul van Geck
15:01who are the two recognised centre-halves who are fit to face Everton. That might be an area where
15:07they dip into the transfer window. I asked him about that in the press conference and that is
15:12an area they are potentially looking at to strengthen between now and the end of the window.
15:18There's also Matt O'Reilly. He's struggling to be fit. He picked up a painful knee injury
15:24and that's going to rule him out against Everton. Jason Steele is a reliable back-up keeper.
15:32He's going in for surgery apparently. He's going to be out for the next month or so. They've
15:36recalled Karl Rushworth, the England number 21 goalkeeper. He had a great loan at Swansea last
15:43season. He's been on loan at Hull. He hasn't played so much due to injury but he's fit again
15:47now. He's going to take his place on the bench against Everton. There are a couple of others
15:53coming back. Brian Gruder is going to be available and Jack Kinchelwood as well. He's
15:57missed the last 11 matches with a knee injury. They're hoping to have him fit and available
16:02to face Everton. A few injuries. A bit of mixed news on the injury front really but
16:09I think it's going to be a very tough game against Everton. They beat them 3-0 in Fabian
16:13Hurlitz's first match of the season at Goodison Park. I think it's going to be a much tougher
16:19test this time around under David Moyes. They're quite fired up at the moment.
16:25Much, much sturdier test for them this Saturday at the Amex.
16:34Deren, how do you see this one panning out?
16:38I'm going to go for an optimistic 3-1 for Brighton this time. I think they're looking
16:43much better at the moment. They look a bit more solid and they've got a good attacking
16:46threat going forward. So, yes, I think 3-1 for Brighton.
16:51How do you reckon Albion will get on against Everton, Sam? What do you reckon the score
16:54will be?
16:55Yes, tough game but I think Brighton will come out winners for this one. 2-1. I think
17:00they looked really good against Man Utd. Yassine Ayari and Bolivar looked really good in the
17:04midfield, really locked down that position. I think they'll continue with that partnership
17:09they've got at the moment and I can see a 2-1 winner.
17:12Are you going for a clean sweep of Brighton victories then, Mark, or are we going to sense
17:16some Everton maybe getting something here? I reckon it's a tough one to call, actually.
17:20Yes, I think with the Moisaia back, I think it might be a draw. I'm going to go for a
17:271-1 draw.
17:29And Stockport, Crawley and Ligue 1 on Saturday. I'm assuming Crawley will be hoping for a
17:331-1 draw but how do you see that one going?
17:36I'm going to go 2-2 for that one. I think Crawley are going to really fight for it and
17:40like you say, Stockport are very patchy and I think they'll want me to get both.
17:45They'll want me to get both. Sam, do you reckon Crawley will get anything from the
17:47game at Stockport?
17:49I think a draw. 1-1.
17:52Are you going for a full house of draws, Darren?
17:54No, sorry, sorry. I'm going for a home win for that one, I think. 2-0.
17:59Well, Crawley then travel to Mansfield on Tuesday. I think this might be a tough one
18:04to call as well. I can see Crawley getting something out of this, Mark. I don't know
18:07if you agree?
18:08Yeah, last year they went to Mansfield and they won 4-1, I think it was, when Crawley
18:13were in their great run in their playoff push. But obviously, probably lots of different
18:19personnel on both sides. Mansfield beat Crawley and I think it was when Ben Gladwin's interim
18:26games, just before Rob Elliott joined. Mansfield very much easily beat Crawley at the Broadfield
18:32Stadium. But I'm going to go Crawley to win 2-1 and it's going to be a dramatic late
18:37winner from Will Swan. That's what I'm going for.
18:41How do you see it going, Sam? Are we expecting drama?
18:44Yeah, I think another draw, though. A late equaliser rather than a late winner. 2-2.
18:49Darren, how do you see it going?
18:51Yeah, I was going to go for a draw as well for that one. So I'm going to go for a 1-1,
18:55but just to be different, I'll go for a 2-2.
18:57Crawley be happy with two draws, Mark, from those two games?
19:01I think they would be absolutely delighted. They'd buy your hand off for that now, I think.
19:06Neither of these are their two games in hand at the moment either. So,
19:09two draws would actually be a really good result and then they can take that momentum
19:12going forward when they do have those games in hand, I think.
19:15Excellent stuff. Well, best of luck to Brighton and Crawley this weekend.
