00:00One of the really interesting elements to me for this game between Detroit and Washington is
00:05Detroit's run game and two elements one
00:09Montgomery's back and we'll be able to get more and more and more into that certainly on our show today
00:13the other is
00:15The par for the course same story that's been going off the lines all year long
00:19Which is Kevin Zeitler got injured in their week 18 win against, Minnesota, and he's not playing today
00:25Because this is what happens during every single Detroit game an important player of theirs gets injured
00:31you know I
00:33Don't know Dan Campbell might have injured someone during the bye week. They're probably practicing so hard. We just don't know about it yet
00:38um I
00:40Wonder Donnie how much success Detroit will have running the football
00:45one in part because they're missing a huge piece to
00:50Montgomery is the rare thing him coming back is not good for them that means that they are now going to dedicate
00:58Double digit carries to a lesser player in their backfield, but theoretically though
01:03It does help them because we don't know what the toll would be let's just say on Jameer Gibbs
01:07If he's carrying the ball 25 touches a game for multiple weeks on end can he hold up for the Super Bowl?
01:12So they do have a good scenario back
01:14But you know what's gonna happen right then Montgomery's gonna start get the first drive punch in a touchdown and away you go
01:18But the jokes are or you're more effective with Gibbs out there because you can hit the home run
01:22But you're right about the offensive line
01:24Which is the foundation of that football team as they lean on it that is a big miss
01:28But also at the same time you know cleans up a lot of mistakes on that Washington defense had a phenomenal season
01:32It's Bobby Wagner. He's limping around on an ankle as well. So that's one of those
01:36Hey quick jump cut by one of these running backs. He goes down. It can't finish the game
01:39That will be a devastating blow here
01:41Even though when you're looking at the grand scheme of things you'd much rather have as crazy as it sounds a very good guard go
01:47Down than a left tackle or a right tackle
01:48I don't think that's gonna be too big of an equation here
01:51But it is gonna be interesting to see how Gibbs was that main force Joe looked all explosive
01:56Carrying it goal line back 35 yard line out hitting home runs where now Montgomery comes back now effective
02:02Well David Montgomery and do they utilize Gibbs that in terms of the passing game more so right?
02:07He's coming off 130 yard performance against Minnesota where they dominated right they put up 30 plus points
02:13He scores a couple of touchdowns, and he looks like that all-purpose player
02:17I mean it is curious to see in terms of the offensive philosophy how Detroit
02:22Attacks it do they take the ball if they if they're on offense first is it more Jared Goff in the passing attack to open up?
02:28The run would you they just say you know what we have David Montgomery back
02:32We're gonna pound it right between the tackles where you down and and it's game on
02:36I am curious about that the last five games for for golf. He's averaged
02:41329 passing yards per game right so one of his best throughout the regular season
02:46We'll see if he can sustain that again has a high number today
02:49Where are you guys out on the Detroit defense? There's one of the other things so we talk about the NFC North and
02:55Maybe people think that I'm being silly. You know questioning resumes of the 15 and 2 1c which is fine
03:02but
03:04Detroit's defense was one of the most concerning things anybody could talk about when it came to the big teams right
03:10and then they bottled up, Minnesota, and I was like
03:14And I demons gonna be great is the team to beat
03:17Doesn't what Minnesota did against LA Donnie then take away from what Detroit did against, Minnesota
03:22Doesn't it kind of show that that then was more of a Darnold in a big-game problem than a Oh the Lions defense is awesome
03:28Again thing it does and also specifically you know playing that well and playing at home a little bit difference because in a dome
03:34Environment when you're the home team the offensive coordinator
03:37They can't there's got the team I should say can't hear the signals all that well
03:40You just go back what a week previous before that the deadbeat 49ers with everybody injured
03:48But basically had Detroit on the ropes there that Monday night football game
03:52We were questioning whether starters should play or not, but did they get Anzalone back that makes a big difference here
03:56They're built on pressure going up against a rookie quarterback. We'll see how he can stand up under the pressure, but I'm with you here
04:01I'm not doubting the Detroit defense, but I don't think it was like hey, man
04:05You can really get after this defense
04:06Then they start getting even more injured at this point get a player or two back and everything is solved because it based on what?
04:12We saw against the Minnesota Vikings and maybe you know the clock just struck zero on Sam Donald a quarterback
04:16You are going to get a different element here. You knew where Donald's gonna be he's right in the middle of that pocket
04:20You're pass rushing today and again Lane integrity is key
04:23This kid can make plays outside the pocket for days with wideout show that can get down the field
04:28Yeah, if we're talking, you know number one and number two seeds left, right?
04:32Detroit is nowhere near the physicality and defense of Philadelphia. I mean, yeah, you know, I mean, I think they can get exposed
04:39They got exposed all year long. Look at all the offenses that they played they gave up 20 to LA
04:44They gave up 29 to Seattle 29 to Minnesota the 31 in terms of Green Bay at the end of the year
04:51Right 48 to Buffalo
04:53I mean this defense was a bend but don't break unit for the most part and and was basically
04:59Resurrected and saved by their offense outscoring people
