Notre Dame v OSU National Title Game, who wins? #ncaa What is the #NFL game of the weekend? Betting insider
Nick Kostos joins!
Transcript
00:00I also, I hate to do it, but I was dead-ass wrong about Ohio State.
00:04I bought into the Michigan game far more than what I had seen, and Kostas, you were right.
00:08What do you like Monday night with Ohio State and Notre Dame?
00:11Yeah, we're gonna roll it back, Curtis, with Ohio State on Monday night.
00:15Now, I think I said with you guys last week, I have Ohio State to win the national championship
00:20already.
00:21I've had it for a while.
00:22I said with you guys before the playoff started, I thought they were the best team.
00:25I have them to beat Notre Dame in an X-Acta, so this is all trending pretty good.
00:30The point spread is eight and a half.
00:31I actually think it's short.
00:33I think Ohio State's gonna win by 20 points.
00:35They're so much better than Notre Dame, and as discussed on the show, Marcus Freeman's
00:39a great coach.
00:41I also would not let my wife around him.
00:43He's way too, like, he's like uncomfortably handsome.
00:47Like it's just, like, it's like, you know, fight club.
00:50You want to destroy something beautiful, except he'd kick my ass, so I would never try that.
00:54My wife loves him.
00:56That's her hall pass.
00:57He's handsome.
00:59I'm straight, and I think I love him.
01:00Yeah, he's very, he's very handsome, but I think Ohio State lays it on him on Monday
01:04night.
01:05I don't think this will be like Georgia TCU 65-7.
01:08I don't think this is that, but I think we could see something like 38-7 on Monday night.
01:13I do like Ohio State quite a bit.
01:15Costos, this weekend, what's the game that I need to bet, just one, for me to make the
01:19most money?
01:20Well, I think it's the best game, Courtney, so it's the one that you're going to want
01:23to bet on because it's the one that's the most exciting.
01:25The Ravens and the Bills on Sunday afternoon.
01:28Two MVP candidate quarterbacks basically picked the winner of the game as the point spread.
01:33Baltimore's a one-point road favorite, basically picked the winner of the game, unlikely to
01:37land one, and I love the Ravens.
01:40Love Baltimore.
01:41Costos, any chance that the commanders could upset the Lions, or is the, do you take, can
01:51the commanders at least keep it close if you're going to bet Washington?
01:55Can the commanders upset the Lions?
01:57I would say they can.
01:58The way that it happens is Dan Quinn goes for it on a bunch of fourth downs, which he
02:03has shown to be apt to do.
02:05They convert all of them.
02:07The Lions, as Dan Campbell is off to do, go for a bunch of fourth downs and they don't
02:11get them.
02:12So it can happen.
02:14You need a very specific series of events to unfold.
02:17This would be like, if you're playing poker, like you need one card for a royal flush and
02:21you lose on everything else.
02:22So I think it's unlikely that the commanders win the game.
02:25Can they cover?
02:26I mean, I I'm on record saying, I think Daniels is the best quarterback left standing in the
02:30NFC.
02:31I think he's the best quarterback already in the conference at the end of his rookie
02:34year.
02:35So like if they're up, if they're down 14 at the end of the game and here's Daniels
02:37strolling in through the back door, mine's out of the gutter talking football, then yeah,
02:42then yeah.
02:43Like Washington could cover the spread, but I just think Detroit's extremely likely to
02:46win the game.
02:47I'm seeing a lot of people with recency bias when it comes to this Texans Chiefs game.
02:51I feel like people are jumping on the Texans side because the Chiefs just haven't played
02:56in a bit and maybe they were lackluster points of the season.
02:59Do you think Chiefs are going to run away with it?
03:01I don't know if they're going to run away with it, Courtney, but I do think the Chiefs
03:03are going to win.
03:04And I think a lot of people are now starting to think that the Ravens are just going to
03:08win the Super Bowl, like beat Buffalo, beat Kansas City next week, win the Super Bowl.
03:12I disagree.
03:13I'm going to hitch my wagon to Patrick Mahomes, and if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.
03:16And I'll go down swinging with the best of all time, along with obviously the great Tom
03:20Brady.
03:21I know.
03:22Remember the place that I'm in right now doing this interview.
03:24They're both awesome.
03:25I think the Chiefs are very likely to win.
03:28Do I think they win by 10?
03:29Maybe not.
03:30I look at Kansas City as a great teaser leg here, from 8.5 down to 2.5.
03:35There are some, like BetMGM doesn't have this available now, Detroit's 9.5 at MGM.
03:40But if you can find a Detroit 8.5 and tease Kansas City and Detroit from 8.5 down to 2.5,
03:47so they win by 3, you win your bet.
03:50I think that's a winning two-team teaser leg coming up for Saturday.
03:53So I think it is such a statement as to the greatness of the Chiefs that they are 16,
04:01and well, they lost on purpose, so 15-2, entering this playoff run, and people are talking about
04:08their flaws.
04:10It is so similar to the Patriots and the Hayden.
04:13It's the same thing, yeah.
04:14Where you had, you know, you have the most, the Chiefs will have plays.
04:17They probably won't waste many against the Texans, but if it's a close game late, it'll
04:21be Mahomes on 3rd and 7, running for 40 yards and a field goal, and they win the game.
04:26Like there's, I have zero, it's the only game I can remember in, I don't know how long,
04:32where I see legitimately zero chance the Chiefs lose the game.
04:35Oh, I don't know about zero chance, I think the Chiefs are going to win, so I can't disagree
04:41with you.
04:42You know, crazy things happen with the balance of a football.
04:44The Patriots lost a weird game.
04:45The Patriots lost to the frickin' Jets in the can't wait game when they were 14-2 and
04:49Brady won MVP in 2010.
04:51That was the worst loss at home.
04:52It was bad, listen, like crazier things have happened for sure.
04:55I mean, the loss in 0-9 to Ray Rice and Willis McGee and the Ravens was weird too.
04:59No, but that element, I mean, a Welker went down right before that game, it was a weird
05:03feel.
05:04Yeah, but like, yeah, just that crazy things can happen, I don't think it's going to happen.
05:08I do agree, I don't like agreeing with you.
05:11But I have to.
05:12Yeah, it sucks.
05:13It sucks.
05:14But I was going to say, Curtis, is I think there are a lot of parallels, you are right,
05:18between this Chiefs team and those Patriots teams in the way that like they've won so
05:23much and now everyone's looking for reasons to poke holes in them instead of just saying,
05:27yeah, like, you know, they have the best quarterback and the best coach and they're probably just
05:31going to win.
05:32How dumb am I that I said to Shyam this week before he took another day off, that I saw
05:36the Rams at 15-1 to win the Super Bowl and said, not the craziest thing, put 20 bucks
05:42on that.
05:43Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to tell you you're crazy for putting a $20 bet down, I mean,
05:45I don't think it's going to happen.
05:47I think they could win this weekend.
05:49I think the problem becomes like if they have to go on the road to Detroit, Detroit's just
05:52going to outscore them in the game.
05:54But look, like I have, Curtis, some Super Bowl exactos that have the Rams in it.
05:58Like I have Chiefs over Rams, I have Bills over Rams, I have Ravens over Rams in the
06:02Super Bowl.
06:03So like it wouldn't be a total stunner if they got there.
06:05I just think, Curtis, the problem with that bet, and look, you can hedge if they get there,
06:09I think the problem is if and when the Rams get to the Super Bowl, they are not beating
06:13any of the top three teams in the AFC when they get there.
06:16But I mean, look, they're six-point dogs this weekend.
06:18If they play Detroit, they'll be six-and-a-half, seven-point dogs in that game.
06:22So it's not impossible, but very unlikely.
06:24But if you could make the argument, McVay, best coach in the playoffs.
06:31Like out of anyone left?
06:32Well, like Andy Reid, everybody loves Andy Reid, brilliant offensive mind, but I think
06:35McVay's got as good of an offensive mind, and it's more modern, doesn't have Mahomes
06:39to use the offense.
06:40Like I just watched that Rams team, and I know the Patriots are dog food, and I know
06:44that the game against the Vikings was not exactly a representative performance.
06:49But the Vikings were one of the best teams in football, according to everybody, with
06:54Brian Flores, who's the hot, sought-after defensive coordinator.
06:58They blew doors.
06:59When they were here, the offense was unstoppable, and Cooper Cup and Puka are healthy.
07:03It's a legit team.
07:06My advice to you would be, if you feel that strongly, bet the Rams on Sunday.
07:10I'm going to, probably.
07:11I'm going to wait for a better number.
07:13Like water gun to my head, I think the Eagles will win, but I definitely think the Rams
07:17are good enough to cover.
07:18And I'll give you this, I don't want to say McVay's the best coach left in the playoffs.
07:23I will say he's the best coach left in the NFC, and I say that as a huge Dan Campbell
07:27fanboy.
07:28Right, and it's the Rams defense, which is kind of, you know, that was the reason why
07:32they were able to just, you know, completely beat up on Minnesota.
07:35But Wiggy, I'll say this though, you know, everyone killed McVay for sitting Stafford
07:40and Kop and Nakua and Kyron Williams in Week 18, because the whole thought was, well, now
07:44you're going to have to play the loser of Vikings.
07:46So it turned out to be pretty smart, because you got terrible Sam Darnold in that game.
07:49Right.
07:50And I'll say this, like, you're right, Wiggy, down the stretch of the regular season, and
07:53the game that Curtis referenced against the Patriots, that was like early November, probably.
07:57It was a while ago.
07:59The Rams offense, they had that huge game where they scored 44 and beat the Bills.
08:02And then from there, the Rams were winning games to win the division.
08:05The offense was not playing great.
08:07And then they all get sat for a week, and Stafford comes out and he's throwing darts
08:12on the opening drive on Monday night, and I bet the Rams in the game, and I'm seeing
08:15Stafford making these throws early, and I'm sitting pretty.
08:18So I do think you get a good Rams offensive output here.
08:21I actually like the over in the game on Sunday, especially if we get, there could be snow
08:26in both games Sunday, in Philly and in Buffalo, which I think would help scoring in both games,
08:31given that there's not expected to be wins.
08:33Can I ask one more about Kansas City when it comes to-
08:35Courtney, you can ask whatever you want.
08:37Thank you so much.
08:38You're the best.
08:39When it comes to Travis- I know.
08:40When it comes to Travis Kelsey, you think that this, we're going to see a different
08:42Travis Kelsey now that it's the playoffs.
08:45What are his numbers looking like, and are you betting overs for them?
08:48Yes and yes.
08:50Kelsey's 52 and a half this weekend.
08:52Just remember what happened with Kelsey this year.
08:55The whole plan with him was going to be to rest him for the playoffs, right?
09:00And then Rasheed Rice, who is Kansas City's best offensive player, not named Patrick Mahomes,
09:04had a season-ending injury very early, and Kelsey is now thrust into this role, right,
09:08where he is expected to be contributing way more than he had to.
09:11And now, he's had two full weeks off, like, didn't play in Week 18, and the Chiefs had
09:15the bye, and now it's big boy territory here.
09:19It's playoff time.
09:20Right.
09:21Now, there are other good weapons on the team.
09:22The Rookies' Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown is back, they traded for DeAndre Hopkins,
09:27Kelsey is Mahomes' binky, and just something to keep in mind for this particular game.
09:31We watched Texans-Chargers last week, right?
09:33The Texans' pass rush is really, really, really good.
09:36Really good.
09:37With Daniil Hunter and Will Anderson.
09:38My sense is, given how bad the Chiefs' pass protection, specifically the offensive tackles,
09:43have been at points this season, the game plan is going to be, Mahomes gets the ball,
09:47gets it out in two seconds.
09:49That's Travis Kelsey.
09:50I like his over tomorrow.
09:51And generally, when we get here, sorry Curtis-
09:55God, without Greg, what's going on?
09:57Keep going, guys.
09:58Yeah, it's kind of like, you know, it's fen for yourself.
10:00Free for all.
10:01But generally, when we get here, teams defensively tend, for whatever dumbass reason, is leave
10:05Travis Kelsey wide-ass open.
10:09And it's so irritating to watch defenses play against him.
10:12You should be doubling this guy.
10:13So I'm with you.
10:14Kelsey has big days throughout the playoffs.
10:16I have an over-under for you, Costos, and we'll get out on this.
10:19One and a half total number of rings for Travis Kelsey this year.
10:24So like, will he win the Super Bowl and will he propose?
10:27Yeah, like I'll say he wins the Super Bowl.
10:31I don't think that him and Taylor Swift get married.
10:33I base that on nothing.
10:34I pay no attention to it.
10:36My opinion is it's not a relationship.
10:38Yeah, huge.
10:39Well, no, no, no.
10:40Our bet is that they're going to break up before June or July.
10:43I think it's June.
10:45That would be my sense, because he's going to retire probably if they win the Super Bowl.
10:48Yeah, no, I think that they might be engaged already.
10:51I think that I'm giving him two rings this year, unfortunately.
10:55Do you like their relationship?
10:57Yeah, I love it.
10:58I don't want them to win the Super Bowl, but I love their relationship.
11:01I'm all in.
11:02Yeah, I like when people are happy.
11:04I like it also.
11:05Yes, exactly.
11:06I sure do.
11:07All right, well, what do you wish for us this weekend?
11:08And I wish you a lovely time.
11:09Minimal sweats, winning bets, the absolute very best of luck.
11:12Peace.
11:13All right.
11:14There's the man, the myth, the legend, Costos.
