00:00This tradition has been going on since our ancient tradition.
00:04The word Dikshan, where on one hand, after a certain period of time,
00:13the knowledge that we have attained, or the indication of a stage of nepuniya,
00:19on the other hand, the knowledge that we have attained,
00:23to give it a practical form, we can also call it nepuniya or diksha.
00:30In India, there has been an ancient tradition of gurukul.
00:35After the students have received their education,
00:39those who receive their education in the opcharik gurusul vyastha,
00:44there, opcharik and anopcharik, both types of education were provided.
00:50And there, there was also a family feeling.
00:54Our gurus used to say that we have two types of children.
00:59One is in our family and the other is in our gurukul.
01:03So, this family feeling, which was a part of our education system,
01:08is also a part of that tradition.
01:12The process of education has three important aspects.
01:18Sravan, manan, nidhidhyasana.
01:22Sravan means to receive this knowledge through all the senses.
01:30Manan means the process of thinking about what you have heard.
01:41And nidhidhyasana means
01:45the process of bringing the knowledge you have heard into your life.
01:52This whole process is called education in our society.
01:57To get a degree, to get knowledge, is not really education.
02:05This whole process of knowledge has been a tradition in our society.
02:11And this whole process,
02:16this process of getting knowledge,
02:21for self-knowledge, both knowledge and education have been used.
02:26In this, the whole process of living life is very important.
02:30Our devotees have also said that this process should continue throughout life.
02:37In the Indian tradition, after getting a degree,
02:41Acharya, Guru,
02:43at the time of Dikshaan, say to the disciples,
02:46satyam vada dharmam chara swadhyayin maha-pravadah
02:52meaning,
02:54after getting a Dikshaan, after getting knowledge,
02:59we should walk on the path of truth and dharma.
03:03What does dharma mean?
03:05Today, this one word has caused a great loss to our country.
03:09We have made dharma a religion.
03:12Religion means panch-sampradaya-majap.
03:15But dharma in our country is considered as a duty.
03:20We use it in our behaviour.
03:23If a neighbour helps us, we say thank you.
03:26He says, why do you say thank you?
03:28This was my neighbour's dharma.
03:30So, it was dharma in our country as a duty.
03:34We have made dharma a religion.
03:38That is why dharma prevails everywhere.
03:41So, we should walk on the path of dharma.
03:45And swadhyayin maha-pravadah means,
03:48we should continue swadhyayin maha-pravadah.
03:51This is a stage of Dikshaan,
03:53after getting knowledge,
03:55after getting a degree.
03:57But the process of getting knowledge of education
04:01should continue throughout our life.
04:04That is why many of our senior professors say,
04:07they don't say that I am an economics professor.
04:11Our Bajranglalji says,
04:13I am an economics student today.
04:15He is 85 years old.
04:17He says, I am an economics student.
04:21So, this process should continue throughout our life.
04:26And the fundamental goal of Indian education,
04:30when Swami Vivekananda was asked,
04:33what should be the goal of education?
04:35Swami ji said two words,
04:37man-making and character building.
04:40Many great men have said this in their own words.
04:44Mahatma Gandhi ji had said,
04:47hand, head and heart.
04:51Acharya Vidyasagar ji had said,
04:54excuse me,
04:56Acharya Vidyanath Mishra ji had said,
04:59Acharya Vidyanath Mishra ji had said,
