00:00Obviously, if we look at David Moyes' spell at West Ham, it was up and down, and then
00:08they went on and he achieved European places. He then returned a trophy, which was quite
00:12remarkable really. Then when he did get sacked, you felt that he may have got a bit hard done
00:18by. He's clearly a top flight manager with loads of experience. Do you think it was the
00:24correct appointment from the new owners? They've obviously come in and they've laid it out.
00:31We obviously spoke a number of times whether Deitch's future was in the balance or not.
00:35As you mentioned there, it can change in a matter of weeks or a matter of results. Then
00:39Deitch goes and Moyes comes straight in. Do you think they should have looked elsewhere
00:44or do you think they've made the right appointment for now and for the future as well?
00:50I think it's the right appointment on the balance of things. We're evidently in a position
00:57to try to wait and get a target in. We're in the position where they might not be able
01:02to get a target over the line. We think, right, we've got to go back to the drawing board
01:05because results aren't easy. You can get quickly dragged into a relegation battle. Two home
01:11games this week against Aston Villa and Tottenham, which would be big games. You want someone
01:15in charge of them. You don't want someone like Leighton Baines. It was fine for the
01:18piece for a game in the FA Cup, Leighton Baines taking charge, but you need someone experienced.
01:24You need someone who will give Everton a shot in the arm. David Moyes, his job at West Ham
01:30was absolutely magnificent. You have to say, he won them a European trophy, had them challenging
01:37for Europe regularly. Not just the Europa Conference League, but the Europa League as
01:41well. He's done well. Look what's happened at West Ham since he left with Julian Lopetegui.
01:49He's obviously lost his job within the first six months of his tenure. I think he was very
01:56under-rated. He's obviously learned a lot since he left Everton. He doesn't think he could get
02:04any unlucky at the time. He left to take charge of Man Utd, given the circumstances there.
02:10His record wasn't that bad. Yes, there were a couple of Real Sociedad and Sunderland didn't
02:16go as planned for him. But West Ham, in the last few years, he's a proven Premier League
02:21manager. He's obviously learned a lot in the 12 years since he's been away. He'll bring all that
02:29experience back with him. You might see a little bit of a different Moyes, a David Moyes 2.0.
02:37The only thing I think some supporters maybe will have a little bit of an issue with is the
02:41contract length, two and a half years. Some might have said we'll get him until the end of the
02:45season. But he probably wouldn't have wanted to stay until the end of the season. If he wants
02:52another job, he wants to have a real good fist at it and prove to everyone that he's still capable
02:58of operating at these levels. Coming to the end of the season, it gives him nothing to work off.
03:05He wants a goal to have. He wants to achieve something. I think that's obviously what the
03:11outcome was for the freaking group. All eyes are on the two games this week.
