Nigel Farage has renewed calls for a national inquiry into grooming gangs, criticising the Jay Review as inadequate. Speaking at Reform UK’s North West conference, he claimed a targeted investigation was needed into what he described as “deeply racist” crimes. Farage said grooming gangs, “predominantly of Pakistani origin,” targeted white working-class girls and that understanding the scale and motives of these crimes was crucial to stopping them. 01:10who covered the thing up in the first place to launch inquiries.
01:15And that is why we need a full national inquiry,
01:21not, as the Jay report was,
01:25into the broader issues of abuse of children.
01:29That was a shotgun approach.
01:31This needs to be a rifle shot that deals with grooming gangs,
01:36predominantly of Pakistani origin,
01:38and them preying on young, in most cases,
01:42working-class white girls in this country.
01:45We need it. We need it now.
01:47We need it done quickly.
01:49We need it concluded within nine months,
01:52and we then need action
01:54across every arm of government in this country.
