00:05into grooming gangs, which we think is incredibly important.
00:09This has been an evolving picture over many years.
00:12We do have more information about what has been happening,
00:14but we haven't pieced all the dots together
00:17on a nationwide basis to understand
00:19how many victims there are, how many perpetrators there are,
00:21how many towns exactly have been affected.
00:23This is absolutely something which has not just come up
00:26as a result of Elon Musk.
00:28It is really important to know that this has been happening
00:30over a number of years.
00:31A number of things have happened.
00:33We had the two reports early on.
00:35We had the huge independent inquiry
00:38into child sexual abuse,
00:40of which grooming gangs played a small part.
00:42But when it reported in 2022,
00:44it was very, very clear that this was still ongoing.
00:47This is a nationwide scandal.
00:50It's something that we need to know more about.
