Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk says Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu will not be detained despite the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.

00:00Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk assured that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
00:07would not be arrested if he attends the Auschwitz commemoration later this month.
00:13The decision comes after Polish President Andrzej Duda asked Tusk to ensure Netanyahu's
00:18protection who faces an arrest warrant issued by the world's top crime court.
00:24As planned, on the 27th of January, on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the former
00:32Nazi German concentration camp and the Auschwitz-Birkenau massacre in Oświęcim,
00:38together with the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust,
00:45the Government of the Republic of Poland promises that it will provide free and safe access
00:51and participation in the commemorations to the highest representatives of the State of Israel.
00:57Last year in November, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant
01:02for Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the war in Gaza.
01:08Member countries of the ICC, which includes Poland, are required to detain suspects facing
01:14a warrant if they set foot on their soil. However, the court has no way of enforcing that.
01:20It is still unsure whether Netanyahu will attend the event or not.
