A 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a bus in Woolwich, south-east London, on Tuesday. Police were called at 2:28 pm to Woolwich Church Road near the A205. Despite treatment, the teenager died shortly after medics arrived. No arrests have been made. Deputy Commander Louise Sargent called it a "horrendous crime" and acknowledged local concerns. The boy was on a route 472 bus near the Woolwich Ferry when the attack occurred. Report by Covellm. 00:06The initial alert was raised by a local officer out on patrol.

00:20Our thoughts at the time were with the victim's family and friends.
00:24This is a horrendous crime and I can't imagine what they must be going through right now.
00:29No arrests have been made at this early stage but we are working at pace to identify and arrest those involved
00:35and police cordons and road closures will remain in place while we continue to carry out enquiries.

00:45and all the more so given the very young age of the victim.
