South Australian police have launched an investigation, after officers shot and killed a man during a confrontation at a home in Adelaide’s south. Police allege the man threatened them with a knife, before they opened fire.

00:00Well, police say that it was just after midnight when emergency services were called to this
00:07Craigburn farm home over a mental health incident after reports that a man was injuring himself.
00:13Now, police said that they entered the home to try and speak to this 40-year-old man but
00:17that he allegedly threatened them with a knife.
00:20They say that he continued to do so after police unsuccessfully attempted to taser
00:25him.
00:26The incident shot the man before he was rushed to hospital where he sadly later died.
00:31So, Saints Police Commissioner Grant Stephens says that this was a highly stressful and
00:35dangerous situation.
00:36Here's what he had to say.
00:39I can say having watched the body-worn video that this was a highly stressful, dangerous
00:44situation and the police officers appear at this time to have acted in accordance with
00:48their training and taken the action necessary to protect themselves and the ambulance officers
00:53who were on the scene.
00:56Commissioner Stephens says that there will be an investigation into this, a commissioner's
01:01inquiry.
01:02Now, the Police Association SA President Wade Burns says that support was being provided
01:06to these police officers and police say that none of them were injured.
01:10Now, a report will also be prepared for the coroner.
