00:13The Commission on Elections is now in preparation for the Hatol ng Bayan 2025.

00:19In fact, next week, Comelec will start printing balotas for the National Printing Office.

00:26On January 6, we will start printing balotas.

01:16and there are also disqualified candidates who have already appealed to the Supreme Court.

01:25when the final and executive judgment of the commissioner is released.

01:32One of those who appealed to the Supreme Court is former Caloocan 2nd District Representative Edgar Erice,

01:38who is a candidate for Congress, but was disqualified by Comelec and Bank

01:43because he was involved in spreading false news in the election.

01:46Erice asked the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order

01:51and to investigate Comelec's resolution up to his disqualification.

01:56When you read Comelec's resolution, it is ridiculous

02:02because their basis is that I violated Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code.

02:10But it is very clear, even if you read it now,

02:13that you will only be disqualified on the day of the election.

02:19Erice also argued that it is not true that he was involved in the election and spread false news.

02:25In fact, he only wanted to clarify the issues in the contract of Comelec and Miros Systems Company Ltd.,

02:31the country's automated counting machine provider for the election.

02:35What I am saying is my constitutional right to criticize a government agency

02:46and whoever is being paid by the Filipinos.

02:51I am a taxpayer. I am not an official, I am an ordinary taxpayer.

02:59They want to take away my constitutional right and by disqualifying me, they are taking advantage of me.

03:10Comelec said that they are open to Erice's appeal.

03:14But they will continue to print balotas because for the commission,

03:18his disqualification as a candidate has already been annulled.

03:23As long as we do not receive a temporary restraining order or we are stopped by the Supreme Court,

03:29we will have to proceed with the printing of the balotas.

03:31I am officially writing a letter to our Honorable Chief Justice,

03:35informing the Supreme Court through the Chief Justice,

03:38that we will already start printing of the balotas by January 6, by Monday.

03:43It is not to influence the Supreme Court on what to do with the cases.

03:47For them, to avoid what happened in the past elections,

03:52Comelec is angry because the Supreme Court is not informing us

03:56on the updates in our preparation.
