00:00The budget and management department has already approved the medical allowance for government workers to be implemented this year, 2025.
00:10This is Noel Talacay's report.
00:14Mr. Bernabe is now a senior citizen. He is a government employee.
00:18At his age, he is already experiencing a lot in his body that is affecting his health.
00:25Sometimes, I feel nauseous. When I feel nauseous, I just relax my body.
00:40But he doesn't go to the doctor anymore because of the lack of budget.
00:45What's more important to him is his daily expenses and monthly payments.
00:52I am reluctant to reduce my salary because I don't have other thoughts other than my daily expenses.
01:00These needs for the health of government employees like Mr. Bernabe seem to have an answer.
01:08Because the Department of Budget and Management or DBM has already approved the medical allowance for government employees to be implemented in 2025,
01:19a government employee will receive P7,000 per year in the medical allowance.
01:25But there are some qualifications of the status of employment that are included in the medical assistance, not counting the contract of service and job orders.
01:35According to DBM, the medical allowance can be added to the health maintenance organization or HMO of government employees who have this.
01:46But DBM also said that it can also be cash for those who have their own HMOs and those who pay their own medical expenses that will only be paid by the hospital including emergency care, tests, and medicines.
02:02For those who don't have an HMO, they should first leave their place, no HMO branch or company, and refuse their HMO applications.
02:13DBM Secretary Amena Pangandaman thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for adding this to the medical allowance,
02:23which is not only a benefit but also an assurance that a healthy worker will be able to perform his duties as a government employee.
02:33The medical allowance is a step that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. took to address the health expenses of our countrymen.
