00:00Your recent Christmas message is titled,
00:02Christ is Still in the Rubble.
00:05What did you mean by this statement?
00:07Well, last year we created a special manger in our church,
00:12the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church,
00:14and we called it Christ in the Rubble.
00:16And rather than the traditional manger scene
00:20of baby Jesus in a manger
00:22with shepherds and angels surrounding him,
00:25we put baby Jesus in rubble.
00:27Back then, we used to see images of children
00:32being pulled from under the rubble in Gaza on a daily basis.
00:36Tragically, we still see this.
00:37Even today, we see images of children
00:39pulled from under the rubble.
00:42And we were angry and traumatized by the fact
00:46that politicians and quite honestly,
00:48some church leaders were justifying this.
00:51So we insisted that for us,
00:54we see the image of Jesus
00:55in every child pulled from under the rubble.
