00:00Should, in your opinion, President Zelenskyy shoulder any of the blame for the war in Ukraine?
00:07So, Tom, it's a great question. And I think the answer is yes, with some caveats, right?
00:14You know, he has been put in a really difficult position.
00:17He has bravely fought off the Russian invasion in February of 2022, the invasion of Kyiv.
00:25And I think the Ukrainian people should be very proud of that.
00:28But 18 months ago, his leading military, basically the general who's the equivalent of the U.S. chiefs of staff or joint chiefs of staff,
00:42he approached Zelenskyy and said the same thing that Mark Milley said to Joe Biden.
00:47Mark Milley, the U.S. chairman of the Joint Chiefs, went to Biden and said, again, the Ukrainians bravely fought off and defended Kyiv.
00:57But this war is at a point where it's not winnable. It's a stalemate.
01:01And we should negotiate now. Now, that was 18 months ago, probably more like 20 months ago at this point.
01:09And so, you know, in that sense, I think Zelenskyy does deserve some of the blame because he was approached by his senior military advisor,
01:19basically the chief of the Ukrainian military.
01:21And so, you know, he's very careful.
