00:00It's only been six days since the total ban on POGOs in the country
00:03where thousands of Filipino workers lost their jobs.
00:07And tonight, we will talk to the Bureau of Local Employment Director,
00:11Patrick Patriwira-Junior of the Department of Labor and Employment.
00:16Good afternoon to you, and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:19Good afternoon, Ms. Connie, and to you, fellow viewers.
00:23How is the monitoring of the Labor Department
00:25for Filipino POGO workers who lost their jobs?
00:31Do we have a final number?
00:34Thank you, Ms. Connie.
00:35The monitoring of the Department of Labor and Employment continues,
00:38especially our regional offices.
00:41For POGO or IGL establishments,
00:44we currently have 27,790 profiled IGL Filipino workers.
00:52We continue to give them interventions,
00:56such as participating in job fair activities
00:59and giving them livelihood assistance.
01:02But we heard that in the job fairs that were initially held by DOLE,
01:08not many former POGO workers applied.
01:13Is that true?
01:15You're right, Ms. Connie.
01:16That's one of our observations
01:18from the five job fair activities we held in the past months.
01:22This is because we know that the operation of IGL companies is still ongoing
01:28and most of our IGL Filipino workers find it difficult to participate.
01:33That's why we are currently talking to our industry partners
01:38to ensure that we continue to conduct job fair activities until next year.
01:44Yes, but the common sentiment of POGO workers
01:48is that the salary of the employees in the job fair is not high.
01:56What is your reaction to that?
01:58And what will be your response
02:00so that we can find a solution to the salary problem?
02:08Thank you, Ms. Connie.
02:09To our profiled workers,
02:12most of the jobs that they currently hold
02:16have to do with administrative, encoders, IT, and HR roles.
02:21The salaries of our Filipino workers range from Php16,000 to Php30,000.
02:27Most of them are between the ages of 25 to 35 years old.
02:30So based on this profile of our Filipino workers,
02:34from NCR to Calabarzon,
02:38we ensure that the vacancies that we offer in our job fair activities
02:42are based on the skills that they have.
02:46All right.
02:47According to PAOC,
02:49they were able to fight against small POGO or scam operations
02:53from large POGO hubs.
02:56How can we ensure that they won't be able to apply,
03:00our former POGO workers,
03:03to smaller POGO hubs?
03:07Yes.
03:08The Department of Labor and Employment
03:09is in charge of our public employment service offices.
03:13They are in charge of ensuring the provision of public employment services
03:18such as matching with our countrymen
03:21in the available vacancies in their respective locations.
03:27Through our pesos,
03:29we ensure that the establishments and companies are legitimate
03:33and that the vacancies that they show are active
03:36and can be applied by our countrymen.
03:39All right.
03:39Thank you very much for your time that you gave us here in Balitang Hali.
03:44Thank you very much.
03:45This is Director Patrick Patriwi Rawan, Jr.
03:49of the Department of Labor and Employment.
