00:00Every time Christmas comes, the kids are filled with excitement
00:03because aside from their gifts from Ninong and Ninang,
00:06they have a lot of toys, colorful toys, and food that they will enjoy.
00:11But Diane, Christmas is more about gifts and decorations, right?
00:14You're right, Joshua.
00:15But why is the celebration of Christmas so important?
00:19Let's find out the true meaning of this celebration
00:23with Pastor Kim Lacar of Amazing Hope Christian Church International Mabalakat Campus.
00:28Good morning to all of you.
00:30This is Diana Joshua.
00:31And of course, Merry Christmas, Pastor Kim.
00:34Good morning, Ms. Diane and Sir Joshua.
00:37And thank you for inviting me.
00:39And to our viewers, Merry Christmas to everyone.
00:44Pastor Kim, let's start with why is the celebration of Christmas so important every year?
00:50That's right.
00:51The message of our question is important.
00:55Christmas is not just about the decorations,
01:00the gifts we receive, or our gatherings.
01:04But it has a deeper meaning
01:06because Christmas is a reminder
01:10that there is a Savior who was born.
01:12And that is our Lord Jesus.
01:15That's why many verses show the reason for this season.
01:20Like Isaiah 9, verse 6, it says,
01:24For to us, a child is born.
01:27To us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulder.
01:32And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
01:39So this verse is hundreds of years before our Lord Jesus was born.
01:45But it points out the reason and will be the duty of our Lord Jesus.
01:51That's why in the celebration of Christmas,
01:54one of the good reasons is to remind that there is a Savior who was born.
02:01At the same time, this is also a reminder of what God did.
02:05That God created man.
02:08And this is what we call incarnation, not reincarnation.
02:12In reincarnation, we believe that a dead person can reincarnate,
02:17whether as a human or an animal.
02:20But when we say incarnation,
02:23it means that God became human in the form of Jesus Christ.
02:29As it says in the Gospel of John,
02:32that the Word become flesh and live among us.
02:35So that is the beautiful message of this season of Christmas.
02:41That's why we celebrate it every year.
02:44Pastor Kim, is December 25 really the birth of Jesus Christ?
02:51Actually, December 25 is not a definite date
02:57for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
03:00According to the scholars and theologians,
03:04we can see that some say that our Lord Jesus was born on September 11.
03:10Some say that He was born on March 25.
03:13And some say that He was born between 6 to 4 B.C.
03:20So, there is no definite date for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
03:29It is not recorded in the Bible.
03:31But there is one thing that we are sure of.
03:33There are many proofs of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
03:38Alright. But for you, Pastor Kim, personally,
03:41what is your favorite part of celebrating Christmas and why?
03:46For me, my favorite part of celebrating Christmas,
03:52aside from remembering our Savior,
03:55is embodying the reason and purpose of God
03:59in His presence here on earth.
04:01One of the famous verses is John 3.16.
04:05It says,
04:06For God so loved the world,
04:08that He gave His one and only Son.
04:12So, for us to see the reason,
04:15let's read it one by one.
04:17First, it says,
04:19For God so loved the world.
04:22So, here, the Lord is showing His love.
04:26And on Christmas,
04:27this is one of the seasons where we really feel love for each other.
04:33Then, it also says,
04:35That He gave His one and only Son.
04:38So, here, it also shows that God gave.
04:42And we know that Christmas is also a season of giving.
04:48Here, our selfishness is also removed.
04:51Just like what our Lord Jesus did.
04:56And lastly, it says,
04:57That whoever believes in Him,
04:59shall not perish, but have an eternal life.
05:03So, it also talks about forgiveness.
05:07Once a person believes in God,
05:10He forgives us.
05:12And we have the so-called life without limits,
05:17wherein, during Christmas,
05:19we can also see the frequent giving of forgiveness.
05:25Especially to those who are hurting us,
05:28especially to our family,
05:30and our loved ones in life.
05:32Pastor Kim, just one last thing.
05:34What are the simple ways
05:36to celebrate Christmas
05:38even if there are trials in life, Pastor?
05:43So, when it comes to Christmas,
05:46first is the trial.
05:47We can't escape it.
05:49As long as we are here in life.
05:51But I believe that even if there are trials,
05:54we can still thank God.
05:57And we just need to see it.
05:59So, Christmas is also Thanksgiving Day.
06:03So, we should thank God
06:05even if our preparations are not perfect.
06:09But if we have a heart to thank,
06:12we can celebrate it.
06:15And also, as the Bible said,
06:16in 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 18,
06:20In everything, give thanks,
06:22for this is the will of God.
06:24In Christ Jesus, concerning you.
06:27So, never forget to give thanks to God.
06:31And we can celebrate any season of our life
06:34when it comes to Christmas.
06:37Thank you very much,
06:39Pastor Kim Lacar and Merry Christmas!
