A 23-year-old man, who allegedly confessed to murdering a woman for money to watch a Harimau Malaya football match in Cambodia, was charged in the Kuching Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (Dec 24).

01:05In a separate hearing before Magistrate Ling Huichuan, Zakwan pleaded guilty to providing
01:10false information about the case to police.
01:13This offence was committed at the Central Police Station in Kuala Lumpur at 8.53pm on
01:20December 10.
01:22For this charge, filed under Section 182 of the Penal Code, he received a three-month
01:28jail sentence, effective immediately.
01:31The offence typically carries a maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment, or a fine up
01:38to 2000 ringgit, or both.
01:41It was reported that the man behind the murder of Nurul Asikin had confessed that he killed
01:46her because he needed money to pay for his way to watch a football match between Malaysia
01:52and Cambodia.
01:53The match, part of the Mitsubishi Electric ASEAN 2024 Cup, took place in Phnom Penh
02:00on December 8.
