00:00The Philippine National Police is now targeting the sale of illegal fireworks online to ensure the safety of the New Year celebrations.

00:27The Philippine Fireworks Association is now facing a major challenge in the sale of smuggled and illegal fireworks online.

00:35Because of this, they are now asking the Philippine National Police, PNP, to stop the sale of fireworks online.

00:42According to Jovin Ong, the President of the Philippine Fireworks Association,

00:46there is a huge loss for those who sell fireworks because of the widespread sale of smuggled firecrackers.

00:54In fact, from January to November this year, their sales dropped by 40 percent.

01:00They are also forced to lower their prices because the public prefers the cheaper,

01:07but dangerous fireworks that are often seen on TikTok and Facebook.

01:12The PNP is now moving to stop the spread of illegal fireworks online.

01:18In fact, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group is continuously patrolling to take down websites or Facebook pages that sell fireworks.

01:28It is really prohibited to buy fireworks online because we do not know the standard or where it was made.

01:34Every year, the injured are sold to the industry.

01:38Of course, we are the stakeholders who want to follow the law.

01:48We are saddened because when you go to TikTok and Facebook,

01:53the sales of smuggled and oversized firecrackers are low.

01:59Earlier, the PNP chief, Police General Romel Francisco Marvil, conducted an inspection

02:04at the fireworks store in Bukawi, Bulacan.

02:07At the same time, Marvil urged the public not to buy illegal fireworks to avoid disgrace.

02:15Included in the prohibited fireworks are overweights with more than one-third teaspoon or more than 0.2 grams of explosives,

02:23oversized firecrackers with a fuse or mitsa,

02:28which is too small to last less than three seconds or too long to last more than six seconds.

02:35Imported and non-labeled firecrackers and firecrackers with sulfur or phosphorus mixed with chlorates.

02:42These include Goodbye Philippines, Goodbye Chismosa, Plapla, Christine, Karina, Binladen, Tuna, Piccolo, Ulysses, Yolanda, King Kong, and Pipito.

02:57According to the DTI, to those who will buy firecrackers,

02:59now that Christmas and New Year are approaching,

03:01look for the PS mark or the product standard sticker on the firecrackers you will buy

03:05and the license number so that it is safe to use for the celebration of the New Year.

03:11If you will buy firecrackers, it is important that it is complete.

03:16Whatever happens, if it is defective, it will not explode or whatever.
