Acorns Children's #Hospice is opening its first #Black Country superstore shop in Blackheath to generate much needed revenue for the charity. We'e taking a look round the new branch and chatting to the dedicated staff about the latest fundraising initiative as part of the #Wolverhampton Express & Star Care at Christmas campaign in support of the charity which has centres in #Walsall # Birmingham and #Worcester

00:36This is the fifth one that we've opened since December last year.
00:41And it's first in the black country, I understand.

00:45So it's a great new offering for the black country here.
00:48There was a shop previously, I understand, in Blackheath.

00:52For a few years, quite a number of years.
00:53Yeah, it's one of my high street.
00:54We've had a place here for 15 years.
00:55So we've got really nice, strong community links.

00:57Blackheath and the surrounding area have been really lucky with the people that we've had
01:03and the donations.
01:04So fortunately enough, people are pretty generous and they gift us the time and the donations
01:08as well.

01:10So if you want to continue to do that, we would absolutely love that.

01:15We've got a lot more stock here than we had in the other store.
01:18So that's what we had for 15 years.
01:19It's basically just that, but on a much, much bigger scale, about 9,000 square footage of

01:25So all the stuff you like, no more, but more of it.

01:28Like you said, you're always after that gift of time.

01:30Basically always after those volunteers and donations, you know, big store like this,
01:33it needs that life of the community to kind of keep it, keep it running.
01:36And you've got quite a unique, if we just look to your side here, quite a unique little
01:40donation center, haven't you?
01:42Which I think is a bit of a first for the store.
01:44So does that mean people just makes it all that easier to bring stuff in?
01:48Yeah.
01:49I mean, we're all about making it easier for the, for the customer experience anyway.
01:53I think it's the thing about having a gift of time from people, our volunteers are super
01:55perfect.
01:56They'll be behind here.
01:57All the people you will have seen in the old store will be behind here to come and have
01:58your chats and what have you.
01:59It just makes it a lot easier for you to come and drop your stuff off.

02:01You can ask us about anything you want in regards to the store, but more importantly,
02:02you get a nice seamless experience.

04:57it all that bit easier to drop stuff off so people can drive straight in all effectively
05:02can't they? Absolutely so we have this area here where people can come themselves and
05:07drop furniture yeah as well as other donations but we also have the option for them to book
05:14a collection on our website which is really quick and simple. For those chunky bits of
05:20furniture and so on yeah that's okay you can go and pick it up from their home yeah and
05:23we'll go out and we will collect whatever they have. Great stuff. Come along to shop
