00:00INNOVATION CITRANIAS
00:12My name is Syamil Abdul Rahman.
00:13I work at UTHM as a speaker and researcher.
00:19We went for a visit to the rehab centre in Petaling Jaya and Johor Bahru.
00:24We found out that there were a lot of patients.
00:27Physiotherapists were forced to do training sessions in groups.
00:30It was not very effective.
00:32We also saw robots that were created by other researchers.
00:36They were good, but the cost was quite high.
00:41So we tried to make a simpler design.
00:44Before we produce the actual prototype,
00:47we have to make a simple prototype.
00:50How do we do that?
00:53We designed and used a 3D printer.
00:57The 3D printer helped us a lot in producing the prototype.
01:03Human movements are involved in only three movements,
01:06which are reaching, hand manipulation and grasping.
01:10We tried to design a simple robot out of these three
01:14to produce a perfect movement.
01:18The recovery process for stroke patients has two elements.
01:22Rehabilitation and assessment.
01:25We shortened it to REHAD.
01:28One of the components involved in REHAD is electronic parts.
01:33We need to design an electronic circuit board or PCB.
01:37After we fabricate it, we need to do the soldering process.
01:42Our team members are doing the soldering process.
01:47We want to put the components in specific parts.
01:52We found that there are holes used by physiotherapy
01:56or motor assessment scale.
01:58The process takes time.
02:00For example, in Nassam, they only do the process once every three months.
02:04So we tried to create a device
02:06that can be evaluated directly.
02:09In this REHAD, one of the most important processes
02:13is data analysis.
02:16We collect the data in the rehab centre
02:19and analyze it offline.
02:22We transfer the data to our PC
02:24and produce coding using machine learning or artificial intelligence
02:29to make predictions
02:31about the correlation between physiotherapy data
02:34and the data from REHAD.
02:39I hope to further enhance this product.
02:42We hope that one day,
02:45REHAD can be used as a clinical standard
02:49in all rehabilitation centres and big hospitals around the country.
