00:00I'm Mohd Ikwan bin Maksaleh, 44 years old, from Pontyan, Johor.

00:13Now I work at the Institute Kemahiran Mara, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

00:17The product of my innovation, me and my team,

00:20is based on our own electrical equipment.

00:23We call it Portable Hydro Electric.

00:26We make products such as mini-hydro,

00:29which can supply electricity in a small amount.

00:34It's enough to illuminate houses or hills by the river.

00:41The idea for this innovation project came to me

00:45when I went to an area in the Sabah desert.

00:49I saw a place where there are still settlements

00:53near the river that don't have electricity.

00:57They live in the dark at night.

00:59There are many beautiful rivers in Sabah.

01:01Most of my team likes to camp.

01:05When we camp, it's hard to find a source of electricity

01:09to illuminate our night.

01:11The battery and the handphone are running out of battery.

01:15It's dark at night.

01:17Is there a light?

01:19There's no light.

01:21What do we do?

01:22We don't have a light.

01:24So, what do we do?

01:26The idea for Portable Hydro Electric came to me

01:32when I saw a place where there are still settlements

01:36near the river that don't have electricity.

01:40It's hard to find a source of electricity

01:43to illuminate our night.

01:48At first, we only used disposable items.

01:53We used motorbikes from outdoor air-conditioning.

01:56We used used iron.

01:58We only bought bridge rectifiers.

02:01We tried to shape the project

02:04to be used in the river.

02:11I don't deny that there are a lot of products

02:16like solar lamps and solar spoilers that are being sold.

02:20But the products that we produce

02:22might be a choice.

02:24For example, solar products use batteries.

02:27Batteries have a life span.

02:29Our products, Portable Hydro Electric, are easy to use.

02:32It can be used day and night.

02:35It can be used 24 hours a day

02:37without batteries.

02:47My hope is that my products

02:50can encourage people

02:52to contribute new ideas

02:55for the sustainability of the country in the global world.
