00:00Good morning to all of us. This is the latest weather update this Friday, December 13, 2024.
00:08At the moment, we are still not being watched by LPA or typhoons inside and outside of our Philippine area of responsibility,
00:15even though we can still expect the rainy season in some parts of our country,
00:20due to the weather systems that continue to affect our region.
00:25First of all, the effect of the Northeast Monsoon is still felt here in the area of Northern Luzon
00:31and it will continue to affect the cloudy skies and there are also weak rains in the eastern section of the Northern Luzon area.
00:39Meanwhile, in Badang, Mindanao, we can also see some clouds that are affecting the southern portion of Mindanao.
00:46That is the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ, which is slowly shifting or adjusting downwards.
00:53Those clouds are mostly only affecting the eastern part of Mindanao as well as Palawan.
00:59So, it will still rain in some parts of Mindanao today.
01:04In more than ten parts of our country, we can also see some clouds here in some parts of Southern Luzon,
01:11although we can see that those clouds are getting thinner.
01:15It is still possible that there will be heavy rains in some parts or provinces of Southern Luzon
01:23due to the effect of the easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean.
01:29In more than ten parts of our country, in Visayas, in more than ten parts of Mindanao, in Palawan,
01:35and the rest of the Luzon area, the weather will be clear,
01:40except for the occasional rain.
01:44And for the next few days, we expect that generally fair weather conditions will continue this coming Saturday
01:51in a large part of our country.
01:54But the effects of the easterly winds will gradually intensify this coming weekend.
01:59And in exchange for the intensification of the effects of the easterly winds,
02:04the effect of the shear line will return or the collision of the cold and hot winds.
02:10So, it is possible that by Saturday evening or in the coming week,
02:14the shear line of the rains in some parts of Quezon and Bicol Region will increase again.
02:21This is possible this coming weekend or in the middle of the weekend.
02:26And it is also possible that it will also affect the provinces.
02:30Meanwhile, for this coming weekend, at least, we have not yet seen or expected
02:35that LPA or typhoon will possibly affect any part of our country.
02:40So, besides the strong winds, it is still possible that the rains in the northern Luzon
02:46and the shear line that may affect the southern Luzon
02:51will still transfer clear or generally fair weather conditions in the cold parts of our province,
02:58such as sudden or temporary rain boosts due to isolated thunderstorms.
03:05So, the weather conditions here in Luzon due to the continuous effects of the easterly winds
03:13will still be cloudy.
03:15So, there are parts of Cagayan Valley as well as some portions of Cordillera Administrative Region.
03:21There are Apayau, Ifugao, as well as in Mountain Province and Calinga.
03:25The rains that we are expecting here are mostly light rains.
03:31Here in the eastern sections of the southern Luzon,
03:34including Quezon and Bicol Region,
03:37it is still possible that there will be scattered rains,
03:39but we are not expecting that it will be as strong as the last days due to the effects of the shear line.
03:47So, it is the easterlies that will be affected by the rains in Quezon and Bicol Region today.
03:54And in the northern parts of Luzon,
03:56for Ilocos Region, Abra as well as Benguet and a large part of Central Luzon,
04:02the weather will also be clear.
04:04There are only possibilities that the rains will be weak or it will just be a quick shower.
04:09And for areas of Metro Manila,
04:11in the northern parts of Calabar Zone as well as portions of Mimaropa,
04:16it is mostly localized thunderstorms that are possible to cause rains.
04:21So, these are the quick showers that are more common in the afternoons and evenings.
04:27This is just a monitoring of the thunderstorm advisory
04:30that will be issued by our regional services division.
04:34For the temperature forecast today in the neighboring cities here in Luzon,
04:39in Tuguegarao,
04:40the average temperature will range from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius.
04:48Maximum temperatures are expected today here in Lawag.
04:51And the average temperature in Baguio will range from 17 to 25 degrees Celsius.
04:57In Metro Manila, our maximum temperatures will reach 31 degrees Celsius.
05:02For Tagaytay, it will range from 22 to 29 degrees Celsius
05:07and 32 degrees Celsius maximum temperatures today here in Legazpi.
05:13So, there will be a period of time in the northern part of our country,
05:17like what we mentioned earlier,
05:19the access to the Intertropical Convergence Zone has shifted downwards.
05:23So, only here in the southern part or southern portion of Mindanao,
05:27the ITCZ is affected.
05:29So, it is still possible for there to be scattered floods,
05:32landslides and landslides.
05:34So, there are parts of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
05:38And for the rest of Palawan, Visayas,
05:48especially in the Mindanao area,
05:50the weather will be clear today.
05:52So, it will be hot, especially in the afternoon.
05:55And there are only possibilities of isolated thunderstorms
05:58when it comes, or more often, in the afternoon or at night.
06:02Temperature forecast for the neighboring cities here in Palawan and Visayas,
06:06the maximum temperatures in Kalayaan Islands will reach 31 degrees Celsius
06:11and 32 degrees Celsius for Puerto Princesa.
06:15For Ilo-Ilo, the maximum temperatures will reach 31 degrees Celsius,
06:2126 to 30 degrees Celsius is the expected temperature today here in Cebu,
06:27and the maximum temperatures for Lacloban will reach 32 degrees Celsius.
06:33For the temperatures in the neighboring cities here in Mindanao,
06:37for Zamboanga, the maximum temperatures will reach 32 degrees Celsius.
06:41For Cagayan de Oro, it will be 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
06:44And for Metro Davao, the expected temperature will be 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.
06:51As for the situation of our ocean,
06:53we still do not have a gale warning that is high in any coastal areas of our country.
06:58However, we will still be careful with the plans to expand to the coastal areas of the Northern Rizon
07:03because it is still possible for storms to reach the sea.
07:09Our sunrise is at 6.12 a.m. and sunset is at 5.29 p.m.
