00:00Hello everybody we're in Stourbridge town today because it's been rated the
00:05eighth best place to live in the West Midlands apparently the happiest place
00:09to live out of 18 places the eighth so we're going to talk to some Stourbridge
00:13residents and see if they agree. I'm very surprised. You are? Why? I go to college here so I spend most of my free time out and about in town. I don't specifically live in Stourbridge but I don't know I think it's it's not
00:26it's not fabulous I suppose. There's not much colour in the town. When you walk around you're faced with like boring and monotone. It feels like a slug on a day in Stourbridge, no offence.
00:38I don't think that keeps you up. It's probably all the charity shops that we've got round here. Have you done some good hauls in the charity shops?
00:43I've done some good hauls, jewellery, badges. I don't see why it's been voted the eighth place.
00:50You know when you walk around it do people generally seem happy to you? No, they're slow walkers. I feel like everyone's got somewhere else to be and not in Stourbridge. Everyone's walking through Stourbridge to go somewhere else.
01:11So, Sheila said she couldn't agree more with the fact that Stourbridge has been rated the eighth happiest place. Well, we're fantastic in Stourbridge. And how long have you lived here for?
01:24It's Stourbridge itself for 50 years I think it is. Where I live now in Bucklow, 15 years. 15 years. What do you think Sheila makes Stourbridge such a happy place and such a wonderful place for you?
01:39I don't know because the people around me are so miserable it's just unbelievable. I kid you not, there's a woman that lives opposite and her face is permanently... Oh, don't lie to me. You were so happy when I approached you. Oh, I'm not. I'm terrific. So, there you go. We love Sheila.
01:57Robert. Robert. Christine. Christine. They were smiling when I saw them. What do you think about Stourbridge being rated the eighth happiest place to live in the West Midlands? Oh, thrilled to be tonight. Magic. Magic. Do you agree then? Yeah. What makes it so happy for you guys? Local place to come to shop. Yeah, and everybody's always pleasant and lots of nice coffee shops. Plenty of coffee shops.
02:22Plenty of coffee shops. Someone else said that as well actually. So, do you two often like to come out and walk around the town together? Yes. Every day. Every day. And how long have you lived in Stourbridge for? Well, I've been here 11 years. Well, I'm originally from Canada so I've been here about how long? 2012. No, 2012. No, about four years in Stourbridge. Oh, and you're enjoying it. Oh, I love every moment of it. No snow.
02:51No snow. Are we fed up of the snow in Canada? Yes, eight months of the year. Too much. That's why you're so happy, isn't it Christine? Yeah, because the snow forms in zones. It's a lovely place. You'll have snow for one day here and then it'll be sunny the next day. The next day, exactly. Oh, lovely place.
03:07Stourbridge has been voted the eighth happiest place to live in the world. Probably because we're all pensioners. We've got a couple of bob in our pockets. What makes you so happy about living in Stourbridge? It's a nice area. It's a cracking area. The people are nice. Very nice. And you've got no plans to move out of here any time soon? No. How long have you lived here for? 30 plus. Really? What do you think makes everyone so happy here? The people are nice, as you said. I think because it's in the black country.
03:37The people in the black country are much more friendly, aren't they? Yeah, they are. We moved from Birmingham and they're so much more friendly here. That's what we like to hear.
