00:00In the run-up to Christmas, it can get easy to get carried away with what to get people
00:03and what you want to put on your own gift list, never mind the increased expense that
00:07comes from Christmas parties and nights out.
00:09It's worth considering the less fortunate at times like this though, and there are a
00:12couple of charitable endeavours that we want to turn your mind towards this Christmas.
00:15Firstly, Smartworks Manchester are launching a fundraiser to bring in £25,000 for its
00:19Christmas appeal, with each donation set to be matched by Big Give.
00:23Smartworks are designed to give unemployed women all the help they need to enter the
00:26workforce through interview preparation, coaching sessions, work-appropriate clothing
00:30and confidence boosts, with work centred in high-priority areas like Bolton, Bury, Rochdale
00:34and Oldham.
00:35Secondly, the Save Our Baby Bank campaign has been launched in an attempt to keep the
00:38Little Green Sock project alive.
00:40It's a crucial community charity that's helped over 1,300 families across Greater
00:43Manchester, with more than £240,000 worth of essential items donated to help those facing
00:49the toughest times.
00:50The charity urgently needs £200,000 by January to find a new base, or it will face having
00:54to shut down its services.
00:56Please consider donating to either of these, and gift some hope for Christmas.
