00:08difficulty getting one party to achieve majority. So it's always all the parties will lose.

00:16So that involves the losing parties need to form a coalition. But if you have a two-party

00:25system, then one or the other can win. Parliament must decide and make it into a law in the

00:35country that we permit only two parties.

00:40Expanding on his call for Malaysia to adopt a two-party political system, former Prime

00:45Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Parliament must make a law that only permits two parties.

00:51When asked if such a law would go against freedom of assembly or association, he said

00:56there was no absolute freedom.

00:59Freedom of whatever you do is limited. There is no absolute freedom. But you want to use

01:07freedom, it must deliver good results. When you find that freedom destroys the society,

01:18you have to think about limits to freedom.

01:21Yesterday, he said a two-party system would prevent a repeat of the political instability

01:25seen in the last general election, which resulted in a hung parliament.
