00:00No one will be charged over the defunct RM4 billion Bistari Net project, as determined
00:06by deputy public prosecutors, citing no criminal elements, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission
00:11said today.
00:12In a statement, MACC has received orders from the deputy public prosecutors to provide a
00:17full report on their investigation to the education ministry, including recommendations.
00:22Among its main recommendations include urging the ministry to negotiate with YTL Communications
00:28and Durian Berhad to address unresolved issues related to the project contract.
00:33On September 6th, MACC launched a probe into YTL Communications following allegations
00:38of corruption, misappropriation, and abuse of power involving the project.
00:43The investigation also included raids on YTL Communications' office in Kuala Lumpur and
00:47the government office.
00:49The controversial project, launched in 2011 by then-education minister Muhyiddin Yassin
00:54and awarded to YTL Communications, aimed to provide internet connectivity and a learning
00:59platform for the educational community.
01:01The project underwent several phases, but was discontinued in 2019 when then-education
