00:00Aside from the cases that have been and will be filed by the government, the Department

00:05of Justice, for its part, is studying whether a charge for the violation of the anti-terrorism

00:10law can be lodged against the Vice President.

00:13Thus, it is now safe to say that by next year, the second highest official of the land will

00:18find herself facing many legal battles.

00:26The Department of Justice sees the possibility of filing charges against Vice President Sara

00:31Duterte for violating the anti-terror law.

00:35Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres explained this is due to the threats and alleged conspiracy

00:40for assassination made by the Vice President against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

00:47The DOJ also believes the threat against the President, First Lady, and the House Speaker

00:52is a matter of national security concern, given the targets are her remarks.

01:22The DOJ even said this may have instilled fear among Filipinos, and asked what if the

01:32President is assassinated, how can she earn the public's trust as the second highest official

01:38of the land?

01:39Can you imagine a situation where the Vice President is accused of plotting against the

01:47life of the President, and then the President actually dies?

01:51Will the people accept the Vice President to succeed the President?

01:57Based on sections 4, 5, and 6 of the anti-terror law, an act intended to cause death to a person

02:03is considered terrorism.

02:06Given the threat alone or by itself is considered a violation, and scheming a terrorist plot

02:12is nothing but an act of conspiracy and against the law.

02:15The DOJ then asked everyone to remain calm amidst the intense debates and protests that

02:21have erupted on the streets as a whole of government investigation on the issue has

02:26been avowed.

02:27Meanwhile, on the disbarment case against VP Sara, the DOJ said there are no plans as

02:32of yet to file such a case, but is leaving it in the hands of the Integrated Bar of the

02:37Philippines.

02:38The disbarment case, we are leaving it in the hands of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

02:44We will not file a particular case because the IBP is more knowledgeable in that way.
