00:00The impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte is a fair and just process.

00:07That was confirmed by the House Secretary-General, Mela Lesmora, for PTV, in Balitang Pambansa.

00:15House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco confirmed that the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte is a fair and just process.

00:27Yesterday, Velasco personally accepted the complaint filed by several civil society organizations, religious leaders,

00:35sectoral representatives, and several relatives of the victims of the war on drugs during the administration.

00:42This was endorsed by ACT-Bayan Partylist Representative Percival Zendaya and supported by former Senator Laila Delima.

00:49Some said that President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. said that the administration's priority is not to impeach the Vice President,

00:58especially if it is related to the work of the Congress.

01:02Velasco explained that the victims of the alleged impeachment complaints are under the Constitution.

01:11The House of Representatives remains committed to conducting the proceedings with transparency, impartiality, and full respect for the rule of law.

01:24In the alleged complaint filed by the complainants against the Vice President,

01:28the grounds that the complaint is based on are the culpable violation of the Constitution and graft and corruption,

01:36bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.

01:41They have to give this complaint a fair chance and a fair day in court.

01:46This impeachment complaint is important to start the real step process towards holding the Vice President accountable.

01:56We just need to remember one simple thing, if not now, when else?

02:02But Section Velasco thinks that the time is not enough this year for the impeachment complaint to pass.

02:08The complainants' camp is still hoping that this will pass, especially if they have a solid basis for their complaint.

02:16The law must be lowered. The law of the law must be lowered.

02:20If they want, there is a way. And that way is a way to punish those who abuse power and rob the people of the country.

02:32Other lawmakers also insisted that they will think carefully about their vote on the complaint.

02:38If there is an impeachment complaint, the merits of the complaint will depend on the substance.

02:45I hope we don't forget the fact that impeachment is based on grounds, this is not on personality.

02:50It's about the facts that attend the circumstance. The facts and circumstances surrounding an alleged violation.
