00:00Penile fractures, yes it exists. Penis size, fertility, the ability to maintain an erection
00:07is also not affected in either one of those. Let's discuss a little bit about the male
00:12reproductive organ, the penis. Wait for it. What is a circumcised or cut penis?
00:18The penis's head or glands as we call it has a skin layer called the foreskin.
00:24Now for personal reasons, religious beliefs or medical conditions like phimosis,
00:28the foreskin can be surgically removed. Now this is a circumcised or a cut penis.
00:34If the foreskin is intact and not removed, it is an uncircumcised or uncut penis.
00:40Now a major doubt which a lot of people get is,
00:42what is better? Is circumcised better than uncircumcised when it comes to sex?
00:47Well to put your mind at ease, they're both the same. One is not superior to another. Penis size,
00:53fertility, the ability to maintain an erection is also not affected in either one of those.
00:59But there's one point, people with uncircumcised penises should make it a point to clean under
01:05their foreskin every day when they're in the shower to maintain proper hygiene.
01:09So let's talk about maintaining penis hygiene. A very basic but a very important question that
01:15I keep getting as a doctor, how do I clean my penis? First of all, you do not need a specific
01:21intimate wash. A mild, preferably unscented body wash will do the trick. If it's not there,
01:27then lukewarm water is also enough. Now what to do is, start cleaning from the head of the penis,
01:32along the shaft, include the balls and the groin area. For people with uncircumcised penises,
01:38gently retract the foreskin and clean under the foreskin. Very important.
01:43This is cleaning. Now remember, you have to change your briefs, boxers, trunks,
01:47whatever you wear every day and twice a day if you sweat a lot or if you work out.
01:52Bumps on the penis. Now sometimes what happens is, people start seeing small bumps on the head
01:57of their penis. So what is it? They are most likely pearly penile papules, which are small
02:02skin colored bumps, usually around the head of the penis. Now they don't carry any symptoms and
02:07they're harmless. But for the peace of your mind, you can go and get it checked. And once diagnosed
02:12as pearly penile papules, they require no treatment. But if you want to get rid of them,
02:17treatment options are available. Similarly, there are different types of bumps called
02:21faux-dye spots, which usually occur around the lips, inside the cheeks, on the penis,
02:26and scrotum. These are also harmless and not an indication of any disease.
02:31Penile fractures. Yes, it exists. Did you know the penis does not have a bone in it,
02:37but it can still get fractured? Now what happens is, inside the penis, there are two spongy
02:42ciliatrical tissues called corpora cavernosa, which are covered by a sheet of tissue called
02:47tunica albigenia. Now when you're aroused, blood rushes into corpora cavernosa and results in what
02:52you see as an erection. Now when this erect penis experiences sudden trauma or bending,
02:58for example, if penis slips out of the vagina and accidentally thrusts into the pelvis,
03:02or if you're changing positions with penis inside the vagina, or even rolling and falling
03:07onto an erect penis, this can cause the tunica albigena and sometimes even the
03:12corpora cavernosa to rupture. And this is a penile fracture. Very painful.
03:18Most importantly, this is a medical emergency. Don't waste time. Run to the hospital.
