00:00From getting smileys drawn on our hands, to accepting our graduation diplomas.
00:05It's scary, yes. But so was walking into this school for the first time.
00:11Kuch aisa karke dikha, khud khush ho jaye khuda.
00:30The graduation ceremony is today. Can you believe it? An entire grade is leaving.
00:37I can't imagine what that's like.
00:40Year after year, we whispered these same words with awe as we watched our seniors
00:46wear their caps and gowns, deliver these very speeches, hug their families and teachers,
00:52and step out of those blue gates for the last time.
00:55That those seniors would once be us seemed inevitable, yet fundamentally impossible.
01:04But look around. We are wearing the gowns. Our families are sitting there.
01:11The boards all around say Class of 2023.
01:16This moment is ours.
01:18From dreaming about what the seventh floor would look like,
01:21to realizing there's no floor above left to discover.
01:25From Friday folders, to laptops and Lyft passes.
01:31From the old school song, to the new one we'll sing together for the last time today.
01:38From getting smileys drawn on our hands, to accepting our graduation diplomas.
01:44Today we walked into our beloved Audi as students of DAIS.
01:48We're going to walk out alumni.
01:50It is here that we formed the strongest of friendships, loved together and lost together.
01:57Where we were equipped with the skills of empathy, compassion, honesty, resilience,
02:03and determination sure to carry us far in life.
02:06To our teachers, you taught us to spell our names, then stood by us as we found our identities.
02:15We so often take for granted the time we had with you
02:18and underestimate the impact you've had on us.
02:21It is now that I'm growing aware of how instrumental my primary and middle school teachers were
02:27to inculcating in me the values integral to my principles today.
02:32Of how my high school teachers nudged me towards finding my passions
02:36and braced me to enter the outside world.
02:40You allowed us to fall down and scrape our knees
02:43and ensured you were there to help us get back up stronger.
02:47From holding us tightly in place to cover us with makeup before annual day,
02:51to finally letting go of our hands today.
02:55We will never forget you or stop being grateful to you for the indelible mark you have left on us.
03:00To the admin, security, medical, canteen, housekeeping, IT and transport staff.
03:08Thank you for smiling and greeting us every time you saw us.
03:12Your wishes of good luck before every exam made all the difference.
03:16You have taught us so much about the kind of human beings we should be.
03:20Whether we've spent 14, 8, 5 or 2 years here,
03:25how do we say goodbye to the home that so fundamentally made us who we are?
03:30To the place that forms the first line of our introductions for ourselves.
03:35To our childhood.
03:38Will our bonds remain strong?
03:39Are we ready?
03:42But simultaneously, coexisting with all the insecurities, all the fears,
03:47all the uncertainties and unanswerable questions,
03:50the following resolutely remains true for each one of us.
03:54It is time.
03:57We need to move forward.
03:59We are ready.
04:02What felt like struggling to hold on to memories slipping through our fingers feels different now.
04:07We are not losing our relationships.
04:09We are not losing a home.
04:11We are simply making room for our lives to intersect with those of more people.
04:16To find more spaces to call home that will one day grow as special to us as this one.
04:22It's scary, yes.
04:24But so was walking into this school for the first time.
04:27Within this auditorium, I see people who have the drive and power to change the world.
04:32Every single person here is an inspiration.
04:36And I cannot wait to watch you conquer the world.
04:39Kuch aisa karke dikha, khud khush ho jaye khuda.
04:43Ask yourself, what could I be?
04:45We are ready.
