00:00Luxurious stay, shahi pakwan, patangbazi and classical dance.
00:12This is not a lavish wedding venue in Rajasthan or a Mughal architecture in Lucknow, but a
00:18Haveli in the narrow, dingy lanes of Old Delhi, standing tall for centuries.
00:25The 200-year-old Haveli has been redesigned with modern state-of-the-art furnishings
00:47while maintaining an ancestral look and feel to it.
00:50Lying in the ruins for decades, the mansion was brought to life by BJP leader Vijay Goyal in 2016.
00:58This Haveli is one of the biggest Havelis of this area and Haveli Dharampura.
01:02This is one of the only buildings in entire Delhi to build a UNESCO award.
01:07The six-months revamp project turned out to be a six-year project.
01:12But the owners wanted it to be a museum and not a hotel.
01:17The arched doorways, old brass door handles, white courtyard, the traditional red clay bricks,
01:25jharokhas and veranda embody the essence of Mughal architecture.
01:31Located near the iconic Jama Masjid, the three-storey Dharampura Haveli houses 13 exquisite rooms.
01:38The prices of these accommodations range from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 25,000 plus taxes per night.
01:44So guys, I am about to enter the most luxurious suite of this Haveli and the name of this suite is Bali Maran.
01:53So, the interesting part about the rooms in this Haveli are that the names are based upon the gullies,
02:01bazaars and the walls of Purani Delhi.
02:08As you can see, it has this whole Mughal architectural feel to it.
02:14There is a lamp, there are these pots, matkas just to give that ancient feel and look.
02:27Do you know who resided here before this Haveli actually became a hotel?
02:32It was actually these guys.
02:38You must have heard about Raja Maharaja ki tijori in folklores or in storybooks.
02:44Well, I get to see them live right now.
02:52This treasure box was constructed by the Haveli's original occupants more than 150 years ago.
02:58This space was used to store valuables.
03:01People, the visitors can stand here on the glass pane and just have like a look at the ancient tijori right here.
03:10But wait till you see the terrace.
03:18We have reached the main highlight of this building, its terrace which gives a panoramic view of Purani Delhi.
03:28Apart from the narrow lanes of Delhi 6, you also get to see Lal Qila and Jama Masjid right there.
03:36Like many others, I also tried my hands at patang bazi, a recreational activity for the guests in the Haveli.
03:48Just 10 steps away from Haveli Dharampura is another structure with the same architectural beauty, the Golden Haveli.
03:56As we walk inside the newly revamped hotel, we see a room dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi,
04:02who used to stay in Chandni Chowk during his visits to Delhi.
04:09As the sun went below the horizon, the guests in the Haveli were in for a musical treat.
04:26From the famous papri chaat to the exquisite flavours of kebabs, I relished a 7 course meal dinner at their restaurant.
04:42Surrounded by red bricks called Lakhori, the dining area gives the Haveli a distinct Mughal architectural look.
04:51Right now, what I have in front of me is Kanji, which is a welcome drink.
04:55A complimentary drink that is given to every visitor here and it's basically given to improve your digestion.
05:03With views like this and mouth-watering food, this age-old Haveli can become one of the best traditional getaways in Delhi.
