00:00Venezuela's Public Prosecutor's Office launches the investigation on right-wing opposition
00:17leader Maria Corina Machado for the inciting new illegal sanctions against the country.
00:26In Palestine, Israeli soldiers under military protection attacked the residences of Masafir
00:33al-Jatta south of the occupied city of Hebron in East Jordan.
00:43The World Health Organization announced it will keep its alert for mental health at the
01:19site.
01:20Venezuela's Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into right-wing opposition
01:23leader Maria Corina Machado for the inciting new illegal sanctions against the country.
01:28Through a press release, the authority informed that a measure comes after leaders of the
01:33Venezuelan ultra-right wing expressed their support and promotion of the new court's measures
01:38that Washington 16th posed for a bill of the U.S. House of Representatives.
01:43With these actions, the Venezuelan prosecution assured that Machado has violated and betrayed
01:49the constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
01:51Since 2014, Venezuela has been subject to a policy of economic, financial, and commercial
01:58harassment with the imposition of more than 940 sanctions causing an economic genocide
02:07against the Venezuelan people.
02:14In this sense, the Attorney General's Office emphasized that public pronouncements at the
02:18above mention has made regarding this unlawful bill.
02:22Seriously, it involves her and constituents to the Commission of the Crimes of Treason
02:27established in Article 128 of the Penal Code, conspiracy with foreign countries established
02:33in Article 132 of the Penal Code, and association to commit crimes established in Article 37
02:40of the Law against Organized Crimes.
02:43The document also stated, the Public Prosecutor's Office, as a director of the criminal investigations
02:48as an organ of the citizens' power, co-generator of the faithful tradition of freedom, peace,
02:54independence, and sovereignty that characterize our Republic, remain firm in its duty to guarantee
02:59justice as well as in the fight against any person, global, or national, or international
03:04entity that with its actions threaten the stability of the country.
03:13And as the first date of the Anif, fascist youth and students who work on groceries on
03:31our way to Caracas, we go live for updates with our correspondent Belen De Los Santos.
03:37Hi Belen, tell us all the details you can share with us.
03:41Hello studios, we are here, we continue here in Caracas at the Youth Congress of the Anti-Fascist
03:53Congress that is underway here in Caracas, as Venezuela has summoned over 1,000 delegates
04:02that is from 70 countries, and this was the first day of the Congress, we are here, we
04:07continue to see the activities that are underway, delegates from all over the world, as we were
04:14saying, specifically from the global south, but really from everywhere that come here
04:19to share their perspectives, their fights in their own territories, in their own countries,
04:26to analyze and discuss what does the fight against fascism mean today, mean in every
04:33country, in every territory, at a world context that we know is very complex, and many countries
04:39have suffered the consequences from this.
04:42So this Congress summons the youth to come together and think of possible alternatives
04:48to really face these challenges, and with us at this moment, we have Grayson Walker,
04:53he is a law graduate from the United States, an attorney, and also a political analyst.
05:00So, first of all, thank you Grayson for joining us in Tell Us Your English, and to begin I
05:05would like to ask you about your experience, how have you lived the day, the experience
05:10of really joining together with other delegates from all over the world?
05:14Well first of all, thank you for having me on this channel, and for welcoming me to Venezuela,
05:19I'm honored to be here as a part of an American delegation, our country obviously has a very
05:23unique role, especially as it concerns world imperialism, so I'm very happy to be here.
05:29Regarding my impressions of the country and just being here, it's one thing to be reading
05:34about anti-imperialism, to be writing about it, to be working on this outside, but to
05:39be here in the center of the Bolivarian revolution, to be amidst so many anti-imperialist students
05:46and youth, it really shows you that Chavismo is not dead, and the revolution is living
05:51on not just here in Venezuela, but it's inspiring people around the world, not just from Russia,
05:57Vietnam, Iran, but also us in the United States who are looking for some alternative to the
06:02two-party duopoly, which is as alien to us as it is to the countries that it occupies.
06:07Of course, and as we were saying, we're living at some very particular and difficult times
06:13around the world, with for example an ongoing genocide that is happening right now, Palestine
06:19is one of the main topics of discussion, it's around the world, we see it in t-shirts, we see
06:24people walking around with flags, and it's been a worldwide struggle to denounce the genocide,
06:32to denounce the financing, for example, of not only the genocide, but other armed conflicts
06:37around the world, so from an analyst's perspective, what does this sort of congress that brings
06:43together experiences from the global south, experiences of resistance, what does this mean,
06:50and what's the importance of this at a moment like this?
06:53I think there's two things that are very important for international solidarity regarding the
06:58genocide, and also the ongoing wars, not just regarding the ongoing funding of the Ukrainian
07:05regime and the Russian special military operation, but also these other wars around the world that
07:09are part of imperialism. The first important thing is that it gives voice to the people of
07:16these conflicts who are not otherwise able to be expressed in the mainstream media that's
07:20dominated the imperial core, so by giving these people in Palestine and Gaza a voice here, for
07:25instance, it shows them that they are not alone, that their fight is not something that they are
07:30solely David versus Goliath, but they have nine-tenths of the world behind them, and that
07:35it only requires awakening that nine-tenths to realize what power that they have. The other
07:40prong, I think, to this is that we need to learn from each other and learn from the experiences
07:46of various movements around the world so we can integrate that into our own. Chavistas should
07:51learn from those in Gaza who are waging resistance against the Israeli occupation, and those in the
07:56United States should learn, not just get information about what their occupied government is doing in
08:02these countries, but also should learn the tactics and the theories and the struggle from these
08:07countries in order to integrate that into their own experience, because in the U.S. we have, of
08:12course, also disgruntlement against the state, but it's not channeled in a way that's historically
08:17what we would say is maybe progressive. It's sometimes channeled in ways that is antithetical
08:21to their own interests, so learning from the experiences of other people around the world
08:26and integrating that into our own, that is a core part of the anti-imperialist struggle.
08:30And you were talking from a United States perspective, and I would like to add and
08:35also just ask you, in this context, what does it mean to participate in the anti-imperialist struggle
08:44from the United States? You were talking about the learning process from other movements all over the
08:50country, but how's the struggle like in the United States? You've just come from an election process,
08:58you're facing a new mandate of Donald Trump in the coming years. How do you see the movement?
09:03Do you see hope that the anti-imperialist struggle will grow? We've seen great mobilizations in
09:10favor of Palestine, for example. What does it mean to carry that flag in that territory?
09:16Well, I think anti-imperialism in the American context, in our view, is an inherently patriotic
09:24position, because the United States government, what it calls itself a democracy, does not reflect
09:30a popular will. If you want evidence, look at the fact that both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris
09:35were the two nominees. Wildly unpopular candidates. Kamala Harris, who wasn't even properly vetted as
09:40part of the democratic process. So I think that we need to essentially view this as one struggle.
09:48The imperialist system is one system. NATO, imperialism, the genocide in Gaza, this is one
09:56conflict. And the American people are a part of that conflict. Their struggle against their
10:03own government, their own discontent, is tied up with the oppression in Gaza, with the war in the
10:08Ukraine. And I think that integrating this into our own struggle from a patriotic, popular position
10:15against the states, to understand this is one movement that the youth of the world is united
10:19against this system that is also alien to us, that's very important. Of course, it's the task
10:24of the left to articulate this. And the American left has trouble doing this. There are factions
10:30of the American left that often appear very anti-imperialist, but in fact, they spout the
10:35same ideology of the Democratic Party and the ruling establishment. So although this election
10:40wasn't necessarily a happy one, at the very least, because the Democratic Party has been destroyed,
10:46decimated because of this, discredited, it at least opens the space for something new to emerge.
10:51It allows for a new left that is independent of the Democratic and Republican parties,
10:56that is rooted in the working class of our country, and which can tie the national struggle
11:02in the United States with the anti-imperialist struggle around the world. So I think that
11:07there are lots of lessons to learn, but we have a very long road ahead.
11:11We will continue to analyze and hope that effectively something new emerges. Definitely,
11:18the struggle in the Global South has a lot to think about. It's solidarity and the possibilities
11:23of solidarities with the working class in the United States. And so we truly appreciate your
11:28work and whatever you're doing there. So thank you, Grayson, for joining us in Tell Us Sir English.
11:34And we go now back to studios before saying that the Congress is ending its first day,
11:41but will continue on Saturday. And as you were saying, and as you were seeing,
11:47this side of discussions are the ones that are being carried out at this Youth Anti-Fascist
11:54Congress here in Venezuela. The idea that the different struggles around the world
11:59in their fight against fascism can come together to debate these ideas and also analyze possible
12:05strategies for the years to come. That's the idea and the goal for this event, that the youth,
12:11the young generations from every country can build and think and draw up a map for the coming
12:18years around the world. So now we go back to you. Thank you, Hélène, for bringing us all the details
12:24regarding the first days of the Anti-Fascist Sundays of Student World. And now let's take
12:29a very short break, but remember you can join us on our TikTok account, Tell Us Sir English,
12:32where you'll be able to see us in different formats, news updates, and more. Stay tuned for more news.
12:47Welcome back to From the South. The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum,
13:06stated that a former Ecuadorian minister, Walter Hipólito Solís, cannot be extradited to her
13:13country due to his refused status. President Sheinbaum explained that the arrest was made
13:18because Solís had a red arrest warrant from Interpol, but thanks to the good coordination
13:25of Mexican institutions, he was kept in the controlled respect of his refused status. The
13:31Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in permanent communication with the Mexican
13:36Attorney General's office to coordinate the actions that must be taken immediately to
13:41guarantee Solís' freedom and rights as a resident in Mexico.
13:49Luckily, there is a lot of coordination among the institutions in Mexico.
13:54This person is a refugee. He has that category.
14:00But at the same time he was under Interpol's file. You know that when there is an Interpol
14:05file a red notice is issued. Then the detention was made but immediately there was communication
14:15among the institutions to say he cannot be extradited or taken to Ecuador because he has
14:21the status of refugee. Then very quickly it was solved, that was the situation,
14:29but fortunately there is a lot of coordination.
14:59As part of the continuation of Zionist regime's genocidal actions, these aggressions occurred
15:05after the unauthorized Israeli soldiers stole a vehicle that was parked in front of a house
15:11in the Huguera area in Mazatec, at which time the occupation forces confiscated several vehicles.
15:18Several global leaders ensure that they will comply with the arrest warrants issued by the
15:33International Criminal Court against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense
15:39Minister Joao Galán for crimes against humanity and war crimes against the Palestinian population.
15:44So far many governments have reacted, noting they will respect and obey the ICC's final
15:50judgments such as South Africa, Spain, France, Canada, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands,
15:56Colombia and among other nations. The High Representative of the Nation for Foreign
16:01Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell expressed support of the ICC's judgment as well.
16:15Nearly 500 miners have locked themselves in a coal mine on Friday near Turkey's capital
16:21Ankara in a show of protest against the privatization project. The protests started
16:25on Wednesday against the plans of privatized Deir E Khajurat mine and thermal power plant
16:31on the outskirts of the capital city. According to a representative of the Turkish
16:37Main East Union, the miners are determined to continue their protests until the privatization
16:42project is abandoned.
17:13Welcome back. The World Health Organization announces it will keep its alert for impacts
17:27at the highest level in emerging cases. The World Health Organization's committee made
17:33about a dozen independent experts and made a decision at a meeting in Geneva on Friday,
17:38three months after the agency first declared a public health emergency on global concern
17:43in August. The World Health Organization said its decision was based on the rising number
17:47and continuing geographic spread of cases, operational challenges in the field and the
17:52need to mount and sustain a cohesive response across countries and partners.
18:04The United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF called for more support from international
18:09organizations for children in Myanmar who have been affected by armed conflicts and natural
18:13disasters and lack of humanitarian support. UNICEF detailed that at least 650 minors have
18:19been killed by 2024 as a consequence of the conflict's escalation that has run out in 2021
18:25between the National Army and armed groups.
18:28In France, farmers from Harlan Farmers' Union Coordination Bureau have blocked a logistic
18:40base belonging to the supermarket company Carrefour in Colomiers near Toulouse. The
18:45blockade was carried out to protest against the competition from workers who import free trade
18:52equipment. Early afternoon, a thousand tractors and cars belonging to the protesters
18:58blocked the entrance to the site, preventing trucks from entering and leaving the facilities.
19:03In addition, farmers mainly from the Coordination Bureau led the
19:08labyrinth-domed trailers of tires and garbage near the place. This is the fifth day of protests
19:15in European nations since the announcement of the UN Mercosur agreement aimed at boosting
19:19economic ties between Europe and South America, which has caused distress in the agricultural sector.
