00:23her as the first elected president of Mexico.

00:46Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra GarcĂa from Telesub Studios in
00:50Havana, Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
00:52Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro held a meeting Thursday with the country's entrepreneurs
00:57aimed to continue strengthening the national economy programs for 2030.
01:02Upon his arrival at the event in Caracas, the president was received by more than 2,000
01:07independent entrepreneurs amidst slogans of support to his popular victory in the presidential
01:13elections of July 28.
01:15The head of state pointed out that with the great efforts of the Venezuelan people, the
01:20national economy's income has increased together with the investment in the labour market,
01:25away from the classic private companies.
01:28The president detailed that the Central Bank of Venezuela had certified that the country's
01:33national registered an increase of at least 8% in national income.
01:44Today the Central Bank of Venezuela certified that Venezuela in the first semester from
01:48January to June, its real economy, its productive economy grew 8% in the first semester, 8%.
02:02In Venezuela, the President of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of
02:06Venezuela, Carizlia RodrĂguez, announced that she has started the technical expertise
02:11of all the electoral material consigned related to the elections of last July 28.
02:17During an official statement, the official informed that the National Electoral Council
02:23CNE has provided all the digital and physical electoral material for the investigation process.
02:30Likewise, the President of the Supreme Court pointed out that the investigation will be
02:34carried out by the best technical and specialized team until the High Court gathers the necessary
02:41evidence to certify the decision of the Venezuelan people.
02:44In addition, RodrĂguez reiterated the commitment of the judiciary to impart justice in the
02:49face of the cybernetic coup of the global ultra-right denounced by the re-elected President
02:56Nicolás Maduro.
03:06In view of the fact that, by means of Judgment No. 29, dated August 10, 2024, the magistrate
03:13of this electoral chamber will order an expert appraisal of all the electoral material of
03:18evidentiary value consigned in physical or digital form, related to the presidential
03:23election process held on July 28, 2024. This chamber will make the following considerations.
03:31First, this electoral chamber shall proceed to perform in person the supervision and control
03:36of the expertise process of the material
03:53that is in the custody of the National Electoral Council and in the custody of the CNE,
03:58the political organizations and the former candidates, said expertise is in process of
04:03execution by a group of experts in electoral material with the highest technical and scientific,
04:09national and international standards, guaranteeing the highest level of technical and legal excellence,
04:15which shall be performed directly, personally and daily during the entire process.
04:20On Thursday, in Venezuela, the public prosecutor's office denounced the outbreaks of violence
04:34after the elections of July 28, promoted by groups of the extreme opposition of the country.
04:39In this sense, the Attorney General Tarek William Saab revealed that the wave of violence
04:44unleashed orchestrated by the fascist far-right was materialized by people with criminal backgrounds
04:50previously drugged and aimed at attacking state institutions. Saab, for his part,
04:56offered evidence of the investigation by the public prosecutor's office,
05:00which, according to the Attorney General, in coordination with the military police of
05:04the criminal courts, were able to dismantle and stop the bloodbath in Venezuela.
05:14That wave of violence that was unleashed, that was instrumentalized by the ill-named
05:23comanditos, who used, as we said, people with criminal records,
05:32whom they previously drugged, whom they used to burn educational units,
05:36health center units, integrated diagnostic centers, CNE headquarters,
05:45mayors office headquarters, but the most serious thing, and our investigation shows it,
05:51is that these individuals outside the law who wanted to bathe the country in blood,
05:55to cause a civil war, were not able to dismantle and stop this action due to the quick action of
06:06the public prosecutor's office, the auxiliary justice agencies, the police, the military,
06:11the criminal courts, etc.
06:20The higher officials repudiated the violent acts financed by extremist opposition sectors
06:25which resulted in the murder of 25 people, including Venezuelan state officials.
06:34After three weeks of this unfortunate violent event,
06:36not a single complaint has been made by any family member of any victim linked
06:45to any state security agency to open the corresponding investigation.
06:53If so, not a single one, all the victims have unfortunately been
06:57killed by this extreme right-wing factor that even among 25 people killed.
07:07Unfortunately also killed two officers of the Bolivarian National Guard.

07:35Claudia Sheinbaum made her statements after receiving her majority certificate that
07:40accredits her as the first elected president of Mexico at the Electoral Tribunal of the
07:45Federal Judiciary two and a half months after the elections of June 2nd.
07:49The ceremony took place after the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary confirmed
07:53the validity of the election of June 2nd and assured that the president-elect complies
07:59with the requirements set forth in the Constitution.
08:02For her part, Sheinbaum in a speech pointed out the achievements of the government of
08:07President Andrés Manuel López Obrador with his program of the Fourth Transformation.
08:12In this sense, Sheinbaum assured that her term in office will be the continuity
08:17of this program of the Fourth Transformation focused on social equality.
08:22In turn, Sheinbaum suggested that the Morena party can be in a congress to
08:26update the transformation process and some of its bylaws.
08:36And all this, without indebting the country, without increasing taxes,
08:40with a pandemic that lasted two years and with one of the worst economic crises,
08:45product of the pandemic, even so, the dollar is one of the currencies.
08:49The peso is one of the best currencies evaluated against the dollar,
08:53five million Mexicans have been lifted out of poverty, inequalities have decreased,
08:58we are the main trading partner of the largest economy in the world.
09:03Formal employment is at record levels, foreign investment is at record levels,
09:07and the average salary is also at historic levels,
09:10there is a transformation, or is there not a transformation?
09:14Of course there is transformation, long live the Fourth Transformation,
09:18long live President LĂłpez Obrador.
09:26The working group of the Legal Medical Institute of Sao Paulo in Brazil
09:30managed to identify 60 of the 62 dead from the plane crash of August 9, 2024.
09:36More than 40 doctors, dental, anthropology and radiology personnel are working on the
09:41identification of the bodies, with the support of the teams from the Ricardo Gumbleton
09:46Downed Identification Institute. Of the 60 bodies, 30 were handed over to the families,
09:52being recognized by means of fingerprints, x-rays, odontological examination and tattoos.
09:59The federal and civil police are conducting separate investigations into the possible
10:04causes of the accident, which according to preliminary reports showed that the aircraft
10:08suddenly lost altitude and crashed to the ground.
10:16In Paraguay, political and social organizations call for mobilizations in the AsunciĂłn in
10:21rejection of the first years of President Santiago Peña's administration. Under the
10:26slogan We are worse off, the citizens are demanding the administration of President
10:30Peña, considering that there are deficiencies in the health services, corruption in the state
10:36and criticisms of his project of universal school lunch. In this sense, representatives
10:41of the Paraguayan Piahura Party point out that these mobilizations are a reflection
10:47of the discontent and needs of the Paraguayans. They also argue that it is important to include
10:53and respect the rights and public liberties of the people as part of the state's policies.
10:58In Chile, the leader of the Arauco Mayeco coordinator Hector Yautul is in critical
11:03condition after spending more than 70 days in hunger strike. Mapuche leader Yaitul began
11:09hunger fast to demand annulment of the trial against him, release of Mapuche prisoners
11:15and dignified prison conditions. The leader of the Arauco Mayeco coordinator was sentenced
11:21The leader of the Arauco Mayeco coordinator was sentenced on May 7 to 23 years in prison
11:27for alleged crimes of incitement and advocacy of violence, a thief of wood and attacking
11:34authority. The defense rejected the application of the state's internal security law against Yaitul
11:40and the use of protected witnesses to achieve a long sentence, which is considered unjust.

12:16So
12:36welcome back to From the South. A hundred days have passed since Israeli troops closed their
12:41Rafah crossing to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid to assist the victims.
12:45Tel Aviv also blocked the entry of medical supplies and international health delegations,
12:51which aggravates the current health crisis. According to the Gazan media,
12:55office the closure of Rafah caused the death of more than a thousand children,
12:59along with the wounded and sick, since this crossing is the only exit for Palestinians
13:04to the outside world. Meanwhile, the Tel Aviv Occupation Force arrested at least 30 Palestinians,
13:18mostly from the Hebron district in the southern West Bank, as a result of its ongoing illegal
13:24raids. In this regard, the Palestinian Committee for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, together
13:30with the Palestinian Prisoners Society, denounced the violence and intimidation of the inhabitants,
13:35as well as the damages they suffered during the raids. The social organizations point out that
13:40more than 10,000 Palestinians have been held in the West Bank and Jerusalem since the escalation
13:46of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. In this vein, the General Commissioner of the
13:57Public Works and Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Middle East, Philippe Lazzarini,
14:02ratified the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, so that every woman and girl
14:07can recover some of her dignity, which has been damaged as part of the dehumanization caused by
14:12the Israeli aggression, an action that restricts the fulfillment of basic needs of personal hygiene,
14:18privacy and food.
14:25On late Wednesday, Israeli airstrikes hit Mnar, Jonhoun, Hayyita, Ash Shab, and Bin Jiel
14:31towns in southern Lebanon. Israeli Genocidal Army proclaimed being the perpetrator of all
14:37the aforementioned attacks. A drone killed two Hezbollah fighters in Mar Jonin, while
14:43war aircraft shattered a Hezbollah venue in Hayyita, Ash Shab, and shelling tore down the
14:49Ramesh village in Bithel Bay. Meanwhile, Hezbollah confirmed having launched a
14:55barrage of Katyusha rockets at an Israeli military command post in the Beit Hilal barracks.
15:06The National Assembly of Turkey received this Thursday the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
15:12for a special session that addressed the ongoing Israeli genocide against the Gaza Strip.
15:16In his speech to the parliament in Ankara, the Palestinian President expressed his appreciation
15:22for Turkey's stance to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people under the
15:27leadership of the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Palestinian President indicated that the
15:32resistance of the Palestinian people will continue affirming that they will not abandon their
15:37territory and will succeed in expelling the usurpers.
15:45Meanwhile, a new round of ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip begins on Thursday in Doha,
15:51Qatar, in an attempt to curb hostilities between Israel and the Islamic resistance movement Hamas
15:57and secure the release of Israeli hostages held by the Gaza movement. The negotiations will involve
16:03representatives from Israel, the United States, Qatar and Egypt, but it is not yet known whether
16:09Hamas will be directly represented in the negotiations. U.S. State Department Deputy
16:14Spokesman Vedant Patel said on Tuesday that Qatari diplomats had assured the U.S. side
16:20that they would work to have Hamas representation at the new round of talks aimed at ending the
16:26conflict. In this context, the Hamas resistance movement pointed out that there is already a
16:35proposal for a ceasefire and that Israel's acceptance is required for the agreement to
16:40be fulfilled, so that if there is no progress in its implementation, they will not participate in
16:46the talks. We expect to be told by the mediators that Israel has accepted what is being offered
16:53and any meeting should be based on talking about implementation mechanisms and setting deadlines
16:58rather than negotiating something new. Otherwise, Hamas finds no reason to participate.
17:06Meanwhile, the representative of the Palestinian resistance movement, Osama Hamdan,
17:10also stated that the Israeli regime resorts to massacres in Gaza to boycott negotiations for a
17:16ceasefire. During the talks, Hamas was taking them seriously and responding, negotiating and
17:24giving its opinion, but it was working towards a goal. The Israeli side either sent a non-voting
17:29delegation or changed delegations from one round to another so we would start again,
17:34or it has imposed new conditions and often used the method of massacres,
17:38and aggression to get out of the negotiation process.
17:52Fifty-five years ago today, on August 15th, 1969, the legendary Woodstock Rock Festival
17:59opened in Bethel, New York. The three-day outdoor event is considered one of the largest music
18:04festivals in history and became synonymous with the counterculture of the 1960s and a pivotal
18:11moment in popular music history. Despite the weather conditions, the festival gathered almost
18:17half a million attendees and 32 performances such as Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez, Santana Credence,
18:24Clearwater Revival, The Who, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Joe Crocker. This year, Rolling Stones
18:31magazine listed the Woodstock Rock Festival as number 19 of the 50 moments that changed the
18:37history of rock and roll. We have come to the end of this news brief, but you can find this
