00:00How did Mary Jane Veloso end up in the situation of death by the OFW?

00:06Her only wish is to find a way to support her family.

00:09Let's go back to the story of her success in the national news of BN Manalo of PTV Manila.

00:18April 18, 2010, the overseas Filipino worker Mary Jane Veloso was abducted by her friend Maria Cristina Tintinserio of her work in Malaysia.

00:28After working in Dubai as a domestic helper.

00:33April 21, the two went to Malaysia.

00:37But the work for Veloso was postponed.

00:40Then Veloso flew to Indonesia.

00:43April 25, Mary Jane was arrested by Indonesian authorities at Addis Egypto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

00:52After being caught with 2.6 kilos of heroin.

00:55Serio hid the truth of what happened to Veloso's family.

00:59But in the end, Veloso was charged with being in prison.

01:03But the real reason was not said.

01:06Serio threatened Veloso's family that they will be put in danger if they do not remain silent.

01:13Because Mary Jane was part of a large international drug syndicate.

01:18April 24, 2015, during the administration of Aquino, Veloso was transferred to Nusa Kumbangan Island, also known as Execution Island.

01:28April 28, when President Noynoy Aquino helped former Indonesian President Joko Widodo in the ASEAN Conference in Malaysia regarding the case of Veloso.

01:39On the same day, Alias Tintin surrendered to the police and filed several cases including illegal recruitment and human trafficking.

01:49April 29, 2015, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Philippines.

01:54After almost five years, Serio was released by the Nueva Ecija Court of Large-Scale Illegal Recruitment along with three other women.

02:02At the inauguration of the Marcos Administration on August 31, 2022, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. reopened Veloso's case in his state visit to Indonesia.

02:14On January 11, 2024, the administration received a commitment from Widodo that they will re-study the case of Veloso.

02:23After more than a decade, it seems that the good news has been heard.

02:28Today, November 20, a historic meeting took place and seemed to give new hope to Mary Jane and her loved ones.

02:39When the Philippines and Indonesia agreed to transfer Veloso's custody to the country.

02:45According to President Marcos, Jr., this is the result of strong diplomacy and consultation with the Indonesian government.

02:52And in anticipation of Mary Jane Veloso's return to the country, the government first asked the Department of Migrant Workers to help Mary Jane and her family.

03:03When she returns, we will make an effort to visit her and look into her well-being and provide the necessary assistance to her, whatever is needed under the circumstances.
