00:00The Bicol region, Camarines Sur, and Albay in particular, the Calabarzon, with emphasis on Batangas,
00:06bore the brunt of Tropical Storm Christine's wrath.
00:10Other regions are also spared, or were not spared, to include Memaropa and Ollantalmindoro,
00:18which the President came to visit today to hand out P10,000 each to some 4,500 farmers,
00:25fisherfolk, and Indaichan families still hurting from Christine's fallout.

00:35Marvin can no longer make use of his rice crops.
00:38They were damaged by the strong winds brought by Typhoon Christine recently.
00:50So to help Marvin and other farmers and fisherfolk affected by the calamity,
00:54President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. brought over 46 million pesos worth of financial assistance
01:00to the people of Ollantalmindoro.
01:02Almost 5,000 farmers and fisherfolk affected by Typhoons Christine and Leon
01:06received financial assistance from the Office of the President worth P10,000 each.
01:29This government aid is a big help for the beneficiaries, especially for their livelihood.
02:00The President acknowledged the efforts of everyone who helped those affected by the typhoon,
02:28as well as the resilience of the victims.
02:30He emphasized that although no one can prevent typhoons from reaching and hitting the country,
02:34government measures put in place have helped reduce the impact of calamities.
02:39This includes directing the DILG and DNR to use geo-hazard maps to identify areas prone
02:45to landslides and evacuate the people immediately to safe locations.
02:49The President also had a plea in the areas forecast to be hit or affected by the upcoming typhoons.
02:58He also directed the DPWH, DOTR, DOST, and DPI to study and thoroughly inspect roads,
03:25bridges, and other structures to ensure they are of high quality,
03:29safe and ready for the changing weather conditions, and extreme climate.
03:32The Chief Executive has also ordered a review of the Flood Control Master Plan.
03:55In addition to the aid from the Office of the President, the Philippine Crop Insurance
04:13Corporation also provided indemnity checks worth over Php 683,000.
04:18Based on the report from the DA, the combined damage left by typhoons Christine and Leon
04:23in the province of Oriental Mindoro is estimated at Php 328 million.
04:28The local government also thanked the national government, led by President Marcos Jr.,
04:32for the prompt response, especially in dealing with the calamities faced by the province,
04:36including the oil spill, El Niño, and now the series of typhoons.
