00:00More than 500,000 voters may not be able to vote in the 2025 elections.

00:06Comleg found out that many individuals have multiple voter registration records.

00:12This is Patricia Lopez of IBC with the country's latest news.

00:18More than half a million names of voters are now being removed by the Commission on Elections

00:23for the 2025 midterm polls.

00:25The Commission found out through their fingerprint identification system

00:31that these people have multiple voter registration records for the upcoming elections.

00:37It's almost perfect science, according to experts.

00:42The Supreme Court also said that a fingerprint is one person's fingerprint.

00:47No one in the world, even twins, has the same fingerprint.

00:51The Commission will investigate the possible reasons

00:54why an individual has more than one voter registration record.

00:59We will also look at the reasons first.

01:02Sometimes, the registration is transferred,

01:04but the registration is not transferred right away.

01:07It is reactivated and then reactivated with the new registration.

01:11What we are saying is, maybe it was a problem in our part as well.

01:15We will also look into it.

01:16Maybe the records were not forwarded right away.

01:19But if it is proven that an individual has an illegal multiple voter registration,

01:24he will face up to six years in prison

01:28for violating the election laws of the country.

01:31A special meeting will also be held by the Election Registration Board or ERB

01:36across the country to discuss this,

01:39especially since they need to clear the list of voters before November ends.
