00:00Considering the upcoming increase of railfares and the hike in railcard costs,
00:06how do you think these changes will affect the overall affordability of using trains?
00:11Well the market is what the market is. I think that the cost of living has increased,
00:16prices go up, wages go up and everything else goes up. So will it have an impact in Glasgow? No,
00:22I think people will come to Glasgow because I think in comparison to other cities,
00:27Glasgow is quite good for the shops. In the case of Edinburgh, which is the other thing,
00:32they go there for other reasons. So I don't think it will put people off.
00:38There was an exercise recently of reducing the fares to see if it would increase the footfall
00:44and it didn't do as much as they thought it would but I think that was a pity that they stopped
00:50that. So do you think it will make rail travel too expensive for the average person? Probably.
00:57Yeah.
