00:00Two batches of Filipinos from Lebanon have returned to the country this weekend.
00:05And among those who joined them are the various helpers
00:10that were welcomed by C.M. Bell, a custodian at the center of the news.
00:17This Saturday alone,
00:19a team of overseas Filipino workers from Lebanon
00:22returned to the Philippines via Saudi Arabian Airlines' SV862.
00:27And just yesterday, eight more Filipinos voluntarily repatriated came to the country.
00:32They are our fellow Filipinos who were caught up in the chaos between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
00:37Based on the latest report of the Department of Migrant Workers,
00:40450 OFWs from Lebanon have returned to the Philippines.
00:45Since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the voluntary repatriation in Lebanon a year ago.
00:53As of now, we have 266 in our booked commercial flights, okay?
01:05And then, there are additional around,
01:12let's say, around 300 that need to be processed in Lebanese immigration.
01:27So, 300 plus 266, that leaves us with around 566 that we are sure are interested in returning from Lebanon.
01:36Of course, this is a fluid count.
01:39So, right now, it's a large number of Filipinos.
01:46Meaning, voluntary repatriation and total ban on deployment.
01:50We are not processed by OFWs for Lebanon.
01:53According to the DMW's conversation with Ambassador to Lebanon Raewon Balatbat,
01:57only 10 OFWs are in the area who were severely affected by the war in southern Lebanon.
02:03We have 186 shelters, 186 OFWs.
02:08And some overseas Filipinos, those married to Lebanese, also about 15 of them in the shelter.
02:18But most of the 186 are OFWs.
02:21So, we have three shelters.
02:24And they are in good condition right now.
02:26So, 186 in our shelters.
02:28So, southern Lebanon, of course, in political security situation, we are dependent on the DFA.
02:35But we are still praying that the situation will get better.
02:40We know that there are still dangers.
02:42Almost 40 Filipinos will return to the country starting later tonight.
02:4775,000 pesos financial allowance from the DMW Action Fund will be donated to the repatriated OFWs.
02:5570,000 pesos in livelihood assistance from the DSWD and skills trading voucher from TESDA.
03:02Vel Custodio for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
