00:00More than 200 overseas Filipino workers are expected to return to the country this October
00:06in the face of a growing chaos in Lebanon.
00:09How many of them are expected to arrive today?
00:12This is the center of the news of Bernard Ferre.
00:17The Department of Migrant Workers continues to point out the condition of overseas Filipino workers, or FWs,
00:24in Lebanon amid the ongoing crisis in the area.
00:28According to the DMW, Secretary Hans Layu-Kakdak,
00:31more than 221 OFWs will return to the country between October 21 to October 28.
00:3920 OFWs are expected to arrive in the country this week.
00:42350 OFWs are also being processed to return to the country,
00:47of which 178 OFWs continue to three shelters in Beirut.
00:53There are doctors, nurses, and social workers in the shelters that meet the needs of OFWs.
00:59The DMW continues to call on OFWs to avail voluntary repatriation.
01:05They have their own personal needs.
01:08Why do they want to be able to have a lawsuit against their employer or their family?
01:17Of course, we cannot deny that they have an income.
01:23The DMW also promised financial assistance to OFWs returning to the country.
01:29The return will be P150,000 combined with the DMW FOA.
01:35That will be enough for 4 to 6 months,
01:39because they are domestic workers.
01:4111,000 OFWs are estimated to be in Lebanon,
01:44of which most are in Beirut.
01:47They are working as domestic workers.
01:50Currently, the situation in Lebanon is in Alert Level 3,
01:53where voluntary repatriation is being carried out by the government.
