00:25Before joining the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Laos People's Democratic Republic,

00:34President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the Filipino community in Vientiane.

00:40This is the first time President Marcos visited his country.

00:45The Executive Board did not expect that there are many Filipinos in Laos who serve as teachers, engineers, hospitality workers, and other jobs.

00:57I was surprised. I said, no, we have a lot of Filipinos there.

01:01This is their job. This is what they do.

01:05Once again, I saw the proof that Filipinos, no matter where you put them, will become famous.

01:19We are so proud of all of you and for all the things you did.

01:23And for all the ways that you project the Philippines.

01:29There are more than 2,000 Filipinos in Laos.

01:32400 came to the event, including Aaron Inventor, a 10-year-old teacher in Laos.

01:39Aaron is happy with the time and opportunity given by the President for the Filipinos in Laos.

01:46This is so blessed for us. I've been here 22 years.

01:51It's always a joy for us Filipinos here to welcome them with open arms.

01:56It's a blessing for us to be able to fellowship with our President, BBM.

02:13The establishment of the Department of Migrant Workers, which is focused on the welfare of OFWs,

02:20and the expansion of the DMW office, like the one being built in Southeast Asia, in Bangkok, Thailand.

02:27We continue to prioritize the OFWs so that we can protect your rights and welfare.

02:36We will ensure that your employment and basic human rights are respected all over the world.

02:43Contracts are reviewed and passed.

02:46The salary is guaranteed according to the laws of the host country and the Philippines.
