00:00In Palestine, Israeli army troops killed 18 people in an attack on the occupied West Bank
00:11town of Tulkarem.
00:16On Friday, Venezuela's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iván Gil, held a meeting with members
00:20of the Arab community in the country.
00:26In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a boat that carried 278 people capsized on
00:31Lake Kivu on Thursday, claiming 78 lives so far.
00:40Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:45We begin with the news.
01:03In Palestine, Israeli army troops killed 18 people in an attack on the occupied West Bank
01:08town of Tulkarem.
01:09The attack hit a three-story building, setting it on fire when the residents, including two
01:14minors, were killed.
01:16The town of Tulkarem and its neighboring camps have suffered multiple incursions by the Israeli
01:21occupation forces.
01:22Witnesses claim that the attack was unplanned and that security forces are still searching
01:28for possible victims under the rubble.
01:37What happened was a heavy blow, not seen in the past since the Al-Aqsa Intifada.
01:41At least 16 people were martyred, including an entire family, which was wiped off the
01:46civil registers, including the father, mother and children.
01:53There was heavy movement of aircraft, probably F-16 warplanes.
01:57The area downstairs is the cafeteria and up here is the family home.
02:02My brother-in-law, his wife and two children were here, as was his brother-in-law.
02:06When the bombing happened, it was unimaginable, it was like a bolt of lightning.
02:11The destruction is obvious.
02:13So far, we have not been able to identify his body.
02:21The families of the victims killed by the Israeli attack on the residential area of
02:25Tulkarem held the funeral of the 18 martyrs.
02:29The activity was attended by hundreds of Palestinian civilians who carried out coffins of the victims
02:36on their way to the cemetery.
02:38In view of this situation, several Palestinian movements called for demonstrations to honor
02:42the martyrs of Tulkarem.
02:48Spanish and international civil society organizations' boycott campaigns against Israel are reportedly
02:54having a profound impact on the Sionist economy.
02:57The boycott has been structured around different axes and fields of action, such as pressuring
03:03governments to break its ties with Sionist agents, the cancellation of military agreements
03:08and the demand for an arms embargo.
03:11The strategy also includes actions in the cultural, sports and academic spheres, with
03:16thousands of students around the world urging their universities to break institutional
03:20ties with Israel.
03:22On the other hand, commercial blockades through the non-consumption of Sionist brands have
03:28reportedly caused foreign-doubted investments to fall on Israel and 24% drop in exports
03:34to Palestine.
03:40In Lebanon, at least 28 health workers were killed by Israeli bombardments in the last
03:4524 hours.
03:46The information was shared on Thursday by the World Health Organization, which also
03:51warned that medical assistance in the country remains under threat.
03:55The International Body stressed that the Lebanese health system keeps deteriorating, which risks
04:01its operability and hinders the delivery of aid.
04:04In this context, it is worth highlighting that, as reported by the United Nations Office
04:10for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, since October 2023, 73 health workers have
04:17been killed in Lebanon in the midst of the Sionist regime's aggression.
04:25On Friday, the Foreign Minister of Iran, Sajed Abbas Aragishi, met with the Lebanese Speaker
04:31of Parliament Najib Mikati in Beirut.
04:34On the encounter, Aragishi reaffirmed that Iran backs up the Lebanese efforts to confront
04:40the Israeli offensive.
04:41The Iranian diplomat assured that his official visit to Lebanon despite the harsh war crisis
04:46is proof that his country supports the Hezbollah resistance movement.
04:50The authority asserted that the Iranian response to Israel was in a legitimate defense, as
04:56their embassy to Damascus had previously been hit.
04:59The minister granted that his government did not plan to go in on the offensive unless
05:05Israel strikes Iran, adding the nation seeks a ceasefire.
05:14My presence in Beirut in this difficult situation, while the Zionist regime is bombarding every
05:19night and every moment, is the best sign that the Islamic Republic of Iran will always
05:24be firmly behind Hezbollah and will continue to support the Lebanese Shiites and the Lebanese people.
05:32This attack was self-defense, a legitimate self-defense based on the principles of the
05:37United Nations Charter.
05:39Unlike Israel, which attacks civilian targets in the homes of people, women, and children,
05:44we only attack the military and security centers of that regime.
05:50The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, offered an exceptional Friday prayer
05:55in honor of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah resistance movement of Lebanon.
06:00In the speech that followed the prayers, Khamenei called for the unity of the Muslim community
06:05and assured that the Islamic world has only one enemy, Israel.
06:09In this regard, he warned that the Zionist regime will repeat an attack when necessary
06:15and clarified that the recent operation was only the least of the punishments coming for them.
06:20Furthermore, Khamenei praised the resistance of the people in Lebanon and Palestine and
06:25announced the United States support of the Zionist occupier.
06:36Our resisting people in Lebanon and Palestine, you brave fighters, you loyal supporters of
06:45Israel and patient people. These martyrdoms and the blood that was shed shouldn't shake
06:52your determination, but make you more persistent.
06:58This malicious entity of Israel has no roots. It's fake and shaky.
07:06And it has kept itself present hardly through the United States' support to it.
07:12And God willing, it will not survive.

07:23We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:43Welcome back.
07:44On Friday, Venezuela's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivan Gil, held a meeting with members
07:49of the Arab community in the country.
07:51During his remarks, the minister assured the fascist regime of Israel's Prime Minister,
07:56Benjamin Netanyahu, is carrying out an extermination plan of unprecedented dimensions with the
08:02complicity of the United States and its Western allies.
08:05Venezuela will not tolerate this genocide and will promote a global movement to confront
08:10the Israeli aggression against Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, the region and the world.
08:16Let's recall that this meeting took place amid the escalation of violence in the Middle
08:20East prompted by Israel's occupation forces.
08:29What they applied in Gaza, destroying streets, populations, communities, they continue to
08:38do it here in Lebanon now, a criminal policy that has been developed with the support,
08:46and we have to denounce it, of the government of the United States of America, the complicity
08:53and support of the European Union.
08:58We cannot tolerate this.
09:00Humanity cannot tolerate a single dead more nor another bomb falling over children, women,
09:11more than 41,000 dead in Gaza.
09:17Now, thousands of deaths in Lebanon.
09:22They came from a war in Syria and the sovereignty of a fellow country as the Republic of Iran
09:36was intervened.
09:37Mr. Netanyahu goes to the United Nations, an entity created to promote peace and understanding
09:45among nations, to threaten the world with a war in the whole region.
09:52In addition, the Iranian ambassador to Venezuela, Hoyatollah Soltani, offered statements on
09:58the conflicts and wars in the region led by Israel.
10:06Everyone knows that for many centuries, the Middle East has been a region of peace, of
10:11harmony, especially.
10:13That sacred territory called Palestine was a center of encounter of ethnic groups.
10:22And religions living in peace, tranquility, fraternity and harmony until a cancerous tumor
10:32called Israel was illegally formed there.
10:41From that moment, the region entered into conflicts and wars caused by the Zionist expansionist
10:46war policies.
10:48On the other hand, the Palestinian ambassador to Venezuela denounced that the countries
10:55that remained silent before the Israeli genocide are complicit in this crime.
11:06Today we are here at Casa Amarilla to raise our voices against the complicit silence because
11:11at this moment, brother minister, those who keep silent are complicit in the crimes against
11:16the Palestinian people, against our brothers and sisters in Lebanon, in Syria and in Iran.
11:22Those who keep silent are accomplices.
11:24We are here today to say no to the complicit silence.
11:27We are here today to raise our voices and to say no to the culture of impunity that
11:32Israel is enjoying.
11:34All this is happening thanks to the blind support to Zionism by the United States and
11:39the other countries, who so far have sent almost 50 billion dollars to Israel in military aid.
11:50Venezuela reports the reduction of its historical inflation levels to 1.5 billion dollars.
11:57Venezuela reports the reduction of its historical inflation levels to one digit during September 2024.
12:05According to a report issued by the Central Bank of Venezuela, the national consumer price
12:10index reached 0.8% in September 2024, compared to 1.4% in August.
12:17The financial institution also informed that the nation registered a 3% of the variance
12:24inflation factor during the third quarter of 2024, the lowest since 2008.
12:30The report also emphasized that this stabilization of the economy is due to the efforts made
12:35by the Bolivarian government to mitigate the impact of the unilateral coercive measures.
12:46On Thursday, armed men belonging to the Grand Grief gang attacked a town in central Haiti,
12:51killing at least 70 people and forcing 3,000 to flee.
12:55The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that the attack occurred
13:01in the Ponson, northwest of Port-au-Prince.
13:04According to the United Nations, at least 16 people were seriously injured in the attack,
13:09including two gang members who were hit during an exchange of gunfire with the police.
13:14The office also added that gang members set fire to at least 45 homes and 34 cars.
13:21Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conil denounced the attack on eggs, expressing that it was
13:26a heinous crime against defenseless women, men and children, and not only an attack against
13:32victims but against the entire Haitian nation.
13:39In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum dedicated her Friday morning press conference to migration issues.
13:45In this regard, the head of state touched the government's work to facilitate migrants'
13:50access to consular services.
13:54And also, there were consular services for these permits that were given in Mexico City.
14:00Now, most of them have been transferred to the south of Mexico so that migrants do not
14:05have to come from the south, even from Central America, to Mexico City.
14:11So, this scheme was transferred to Tabasco, to Chiapas, and this has had many results,
14:17among many other actions that are being carried out.
14:23In Uruguay, the public prosecutor's office began investigations into the fire in a prison
14:28cell in the capital city of Montevideo, which caused the death of six prisoners.
14:33In this context, the president of the Prison Workers Union of the country, Germán Gutiérrez,
14:38announced the government's deficient prison policy.
14:43The lack of state presence has reached a breaking point.
14:45In fact, this government has led to a policy of disinvestment in prisons.
14:48There have been 4,000 more prisoners.
14:50We are already reaching 16,000, but the budgets in place are those of when there were around
14:5411,000.
14:55There has even been a lack of food.
14:56In fact, the parliamentary commissioner made a habeas corpus trial at the beginning of
15:00this year where it mandated the state to reinforce the food supply because the government was
15:03no longer feeding the prisons.
15:05The lack of authority of the state inside these centers has led to a situation of anarchy
15:08and the same incidents of December last year are repeated.
15:11We're in the same prison module.
15:12There were six deaths, and now we have to lament six more deaths.
15:15We really have to begin to study the civil and criminal responsibilities of the authorities
15:19because we are clearly facing a situation of omission of the state functions.
15:25We have a second show break coming up, but before we invite you to visit our YouTube

15:56Welcome back to From the South.
15:58In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a boat that carried 278 people capsized on
16:04Lake Kivu on Thursday, claiming 78 lives so far.
16:08The deputy governor of the province, Eku Kaldipopo, informed that the ship departed from Minova
16:13in the Kalehe territory and was traveling towards the city of Goma when it sank some
16:19700 meters from the port of Kitikou, causing human and material losses.
16:24In this context, the office of the Congolese president Félix Xisekedi reported that 58
16:30individuals were rescued as authorities continue the search.
16:33In addition, a commission that has been appointed to determine the causes and responsibilities
16:38of the accident.
16:54People have died as a result of floodings in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to others and
17:09also others are missing as torrential rains and landslides destroyed homes, roads and
17:15bridges across the center of the country.
17:18The municipality of Havlanika, about 70 km southwest of the capital Sarajevo, which suffered
17:24over 24 hours of downpours, was completely cut off on Friday after road and railway links
17:31were destroyed.
17:32A spokesman for the local administration, Darko Joukan, said at least 116 people have
17:42died in and around the southern town of Havlanika.
17:46The death toll could rise as some houses had been reduced to rubble by landslides in what
17:51appeared to be Bosnia's worst flooding since at least 2014 when more than 20 people died
17:57in floods.
17:59At around one o'clock or half one, huge torrents hit the village, like rivers, carrying everything
18:18away, tons of stone, thousands of tons of rubble slid towards the village.
18:24A dozen houses were razed to the ground.
18:27People died.
18:29They were calling for help all night, but we couldn't leave our house, we were fighting
18:33to try and save it, to save ourselves.
18:36It was frightening.
18:40In Bolivia authorities began an operation to fight the forest fires that have destroyed
18:45more than 7 million hectares of forest.
18:50President Luis Arce visited the control center in Santa Cruz while the flames were being
18:54extinguished in an air tanker.
18:57Emergency teams and firefighters remained at the site carrying out air and ground operations
19:02to fight the forest fires.
19:03In this sense, the head of state informed that the military forces will join the defense
19:08of the forest to prevent people or farmers from starting fires.
19:13For more than 120 days, the fire has not ceased in several regions of the Bolivian territory,
19:19with Santa Cruz as epicenter, followed by the Benin Department.
19:29In the U.S., three former police officers have been convicted on federal charges related
19:34to the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, Tennessee, an incident in 2023 that sparked
19:41nationwide protests and calls for law enforcement reform.
19:45Demetrius Haley, Tadaris Beane and Justin Smith were found guilty of witness tampering
19:51on Thursday but cleared of the most severe charge of violating the 29-year-old Nichols'
19:57civil rights by causing his death.
19:59Federal witness tampering charges carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and the
20:04sentencing is anticipated to take place in January.
20:09The three former police officers were among the five special police unit members accused
20:14of beating Nichols to death on January 7, 2023, who passed away three days later with
20:20an autopsy showing he died from repeated blows to the head.
20:24The five officers have also been charged with a second-degree murder in Tennessee State
20:29Court, although that trial has not yet begun.
