00:00As the fourth day of the registration of candidacies for wannabe leaders and lawmakers in next year's midterm polls came to a close,
00:08it became increasingly clear no candidates from six cities of the NCR have filed their official intents as of yet.
00:16Still, familiar faces from the groups of contenders and pretenders showed up to officially throw their hats in the ring for the next year's polls.
00:25Again, the poll body is reminding aspirants not to tarry but instead show up early as the registration period winds down as we hear the full report from our Melalee Smoras.
00:39It's the fourth day of the filing of certificates of candidacy at the Comalec NCR office in San Juan City for those aspiring for a congressional seat in Metro Manila.
00:49But no one from the six cities in the region has filed their candidacy as of yet.
00:54This includes the cities of Pasay, Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, and Valenzuela City.
01:01That's why the Comalec NCR is reminding aspirants not to delay any further and to file their COCs forthwith.
01:09The poll body is open to accepting COCs even this weekend.
01:13We are open on Saturdays and Sundays or October 5 and 6 for the reception of the certificate of candidacy.
01:21It will start from 8 o'clock to 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
01:24One of those who filed their COCs today was 28-year-old senior high school teacher Barry Tayam.
01:30He seeks the lone congressional seat in the city of Las Pinas where he faces an uphill battle for more prominent political figures as opponents.
01:39For the youth, I think I will represent the JNC.
01:46Because I told them that the youth is just complaining.
01:49It's true that most of the time, there's nothing to do.
01:53So I think there needs to be one or someone to step up from the younger generation because we are the future leaders.
02:01There were also some incumbent congressmen who filed their COCs for re-election,
02:06such as Quezon City 3rd District Rep. Franz Pumarin and Quezon City 4th District Rep. Marvin Rillo.
02:13Both of them had Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Jian Soto in tow.
02:18They still have some pending house bills, especially the four-piece,
02:25which will amend the Republic Act 11300.
02:31And right now, it's in the committee hearing already, ready for discussion.
02:35We'll see free medical checkups for all Filipinos.
02:40We need to continue what we started.
02:43Right now, Mayor Joy Belmonte and of course Vice Mayor Jian and the Speaker,
02:48we built our own hospital in the 4th District.
02:53There were also a few others filed their COCs, such as former congressman Edgar Irise,
02:58who aims to serve again as the representative of Caloocan City's 2nd District.
03:02Melalez Moras from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
