00:00Yesterday in Houston, Hunter Brown gets the start for the Astros.
00:07On the other side, A.J. Hinch said, hey, DRS, you got some action in the right arm?
00:12You might pitch in game number two for the Tigers.
00:16Ultimately, Detroit pulls off a huge upset.
00:21An eighth inning where they scored four runs to rally all the way back.
00:26First, a Ryan Presley wild pitch that Detroit takes advantage of.
00:30And then with the bases juiced, Andy Abanez in a pinch hit spot comes through with a three
00:36RBI bases clearing double to give the Tigers the lead and give the Tigers their first playoff
00:42series win since October of 2013.
00:47The gritty tides, as they are branding themselves, have been gritty since the beginning of August.
00:53Now on to the American League Division Series.
00:56It's pretty incredible the way this played out, because I said coming into the playoffs,
01:00Ben, it was like, you know what, you got Tarek Skubal.
01:02Nobody wants to play them in a short series because that's automatically one to nothing
01:05in your advantage for Detroit.
01:07But I wonder how they're going to be able to win games two and games three.
01:10You saw coming into the game yesterday, Houston was the biggest favorite on the card and rightfully
01:14so.
01:15They did have a pitch mismatch.
01:16But you know what's so crazy about this day and age, Ben, in baseball?
01:19You're in game two of the playoffs, and you already went to a full bullpen game, which
01:24saw the Detroit Tigers throw seven pitchers yesterday in that victory.
01:28Back in the day, and I don't say, but five years ago, you had three different, four different
01:32starters start in a seven game set.
01:34Now we're taking a look at three games, here's going, OK, we won the first one.
01:37Let's bullpen at game number two.
01:38Usually the bullpen is like the worst case scenario for your team where you're praying
01:42that you have a chance to win.
01:44And yet Detroit was able to get a five to two victory.
01:46And the way they got that five to two victory, oh, one of the best closers in Major League
01:50Baseball over the past five years in Josh Hader.
01:53An incredible performance for the Tigers over those two games.
01:56They were better in game number one, and boy, did they show fight in game number two.
02:00Because let's also remember, it wasn't a five to two victory, Ben, where they scored five
02:04runs over the first five innings and held on.
02:06This was a game where they were losing until they got that massive double down the line
02:11with bases loaded against Josh Hader.
02:14Love what I saw of the Tigers, red hot team, they deserve to win.
02:17But boy, baseball has changed so much.
02:19Game number two where you have a 1-0 lead and you throw a bullpen game and come away
02:22with a victory against a quality opponent like the Astros.
